Making the Sausage: French Style!

Making the Sausage: French Style!

No, sorry we don't have a recipe for you and this isn't a post to announce the new Wargames Atlantic Cookbook. Today we wanted to update you on the upcoming WW1/2 French plastic set.

We have met our old nemesis: the sprue engineer! And he had this to show us:

As you can see, not all those parts are fitting on the sprue! Sadly, this is a common issue as our enthusiasm gets the better of us and we try to cram on everything along with the kitchen sink!

Fear not! There is a solution! We made MORE parts!

Because this set will let you cover both WW1 and early WW2 we wanted to give you even more WW2 options. So we've added more Berthier rifles along with some MAS-38s to join the backpacks and FM-24/29 light machine guns that were already in the set.

We will be expanding onto a second sprue so that this can be a truly exceptional set. All the new parts are finished and we are in final layout now with tooling to commence very soon. We will keep you updated!

PS All these arms will also fit our soon-to-be-released WW2 French Resistance set too.

Great pity did not find last year have 4 squads of french

Almer – it doesn’t really work out like that unfortunately. From the start, we knew that we would have more officer bodies than absolutely necessary. Our WW1 German set is 30 figures. This one is 35. You’ll have extra officer bodies that you can either throw away or convert or stick rifles on and say “good enough”. We would rather give you more bits and options than limit the set by forcing a separate command sprue on you.

Love what I’m already seeing, and with plastics surplus models and bits are not that big a deal, But with the option of a second sprue, isn’t it an idea to make a sprue with the main troops and the more regulair bits, and one sprue with the commander and more special options like specfic heads, lmg’s etc?
You could alter the ratio of those more specific bits to main troops then.

Nice. Looking forward to the Partizan box too. Any idea of a release date for that box please?

Thomas – we have a lot of sets like the Gurkhas that need a suitable command frame to go with them. We’re hoping to have that completed a little later this year so that we can bring out several at once.

These look AMAZING!!! Will these miniatures also work for pre or mid-war French Foreign Legion? Just wondering…Also, when can we expect the Ghurkas???

Really great work guys! It was a great call to bump it out to two sprues, looking forward to getting my Poilu paws on a box!

Y’know, WW1 French, WW2 French…. I hear there was a very interesting French war in a certain part of Southeast Asia…. ;)
