First Look at Painted Goths

Matthew Leahy has started the test paints for the upcoming Goth Warriors set using the Peter Dennis illustration as a palette. This set will feature 30 28mm hard plastic figures with full command options. Additional boxes including a 60-figure Army Builder set will help you customize and build bigger armies.

We'll have more on these as we get closer to release. We are working on more sets for the Decline and Fall range for this year.

These look fantastic, and like WA’s Dark Ages Irish, these look like they would easily pass for conscripts, militia, and generic warriors from across Europe – of course, I’m no expert, but I for one wouldn’t give a second thought to it if someone were to tell me they were English, Gaul, Viking, or general eastern European.

And of course they would work really well for general-purpose generic fantasy warriors: footmen, bandits, town guards and militia, etc. Just a thought: include options for heads with pointy ears, and they’d make fine generic Elvish bowmen.

Another outstanding addition to the WA line up. I plan to combine this Goth set with the soon-to-be-released Late Romans to generate more variety in the ranks. There should also be additional opportunities for mixing/matching with the Irish Warriors set.

I recently started a goth themed army for oathmark, so I’m definately interested in getting a box of these ones to bolster my forces.

When Frank’s Frank’s and more Frank’s boxes? Can you update next planned releases for this period ?

Anonymous - June 12, 2021

I think Gripping Beast consider their boxes of generic Dark Age spearmen and archers as suitable for Goths…….and other Germanics. Some plastic Franks would be nice as they are more “distinctive”.

Oh thank heavens, finally some Goth’s on foot in plastic, you’d have thought Gripping Beast would have done some to complement all their Mounted Goths but nooooo……
