Harvesters - how to base them?

  • I have started assembling and painting a box of harvester. Great minis, massive pain to glue the legs on. Right up there with the spiders for frustration.

Unlike the spiders, the harvesters don't have little pads on two of the legs to give them surface area to glue down. All the legs end in pointy spikes. I really prefer clear bases, so sinking the tips into basing compound isn't a great solution. Getting posts and drilling the bodies to mount to them is a pain and an added cost, but I don't know how else to make them reasonably solid.

Some could stand without a base, but more dynamic poses or use of gun arms prevents that from being entirely viable.

    Thoughts?

  • @Andrew Stoeckle Do not own and therefor have not based any yet and honestly I am looking at them as Warrior Bug proxies  for Starship Trooper (no bases needed).

That said you could try cut up the left-over sprueframe till it looks like rock, glue your newly made rocks to the sides of one or more of pointy spikes in such away as to act like an anchor to the base.
