Planning some Einherjar

  • So, I decided to go for it and buy the Einherjar, been eyeing them for some time. Gonna kit some out just as they are in the box for use in Death Fields in case I ever find someone willing to try at the club, but I'm gonna get to play Necromunda come fall and I reckon I'll make my squats out of those guys, too. The official models are a bit much for me.

So, the actual idea I had and the ending paragraph of a bit of a pointless ramble. I decided, on a whim, to get a box of the Marcher GIs as well because I really liked the kits. Those guns they carry, they kinda look like 40k lasguns if you squint... I wonder... Will those arms be too big for the spacedorfguys once they arrive. Hope not. Looking at the pics I reckon they'd likely fit pretty well with the armor on the Einherjar. The GIs got some bracers, close enough to the Einherjar. Well, I suppose I can cut off just the guns and set them on the Einherjar, too, but that's more effort than putting the whole thing on.

  • Sadly I don't have any pictures on me right now, but the arms should fit okay-ish. Einharjar have noticably bulky arms, so you might need to pick either the bulky arms or the skinny ones and stick with them. That said the hands are the exact sime size and proportions as a normal human, and should be a lot easier than trying to rip off the whole hand. Post pics when you're done!

  • @timbus the thirteenth just waiting on the post office. It's good if they have the same proportions. Looking at the pictures I'm a little worried the GIs might have longer arms, but it might just be the bulkiness you mentioned. Gotta see how they look on, it's probably ok if some got skinnier and the others bulkier arms as they're not gonna be standing shoulder to shoulder anyway.

  • @Piisami @timbus the thirteenth Well given we are talking space, I wouldn't worry about the size of the arms as much as the torso diffrence causing gaps since it is possible to put the Marcher arms  on Death Fields bodies but there does seem to be gaps that will need some green stuff filler (I used a damned outrider as my first marcher/df kitbash, didn't try it on the space dwarfs)

  • @Brian Van De Walker yeah, that's a thing I was/am worried about, whether they're gonna fit easily. Am not very good at sculpting and joints I've done in the past that need putty of some kind are rather hideous. Would be best if they just slot in perfectly, or well enough for my use.

Very much not a photographer, but it does work. A bit thinner, but the fit as regards chest width is pretty good.

  • Still waiting on bases to come in the mail, I obviously forgot to add the deck bases into the same order and had to buy from a retailer this side of the customs wall. I'm not the greatest painter but I think these came out well. I'm not sure if I should do the rest with green armor and grey cloth or grey armor and green cloth, I kinda like both. I'd love to do a blue but I haven't really ever found a shade of blue that I could paint in a way that I'd be satisfied with, except as small highlights and contrast bits.

  • @Piisami Damn they turned out great! I might steal the idea to spruce up some of my leftover einherjar. The heavy infantry arms look awesome, too. Any plans for vehicles?

  • @timbus the thirteenth oh yes, I do. I got the tank and the walker from Rampart. Definitely recommend both kits. Walker's got enough extra legs I reckon I could rig up a trailer behind it

and the tank is just insane value as well. It's got detailed insides all over. I think I will ditch the turret and build a hydraulic boom that has a laser on it and set that on instead of the turret, and put a platform with some railings on the roof too.

  • Also, next batch of four guys

  • Here's the rest of the crew until I assemble some more. I think I want some more rifles and field caps with fur.

  • @timbus the thirteenth and here they are finished, bases and all. Walker's plodding along well, too. Finished the front, building a transport bed for the back atm
