I think a lot of us would like to get our kids into wargaming. Well I found a great gateway drug....
Really clever. Mold some monsters. (But you only get so much clay... so a few big monsters, or more smaller, weaker monsters?) Move them around the board and battle. All the principles of wargaming are there. And it's not just an intro, it gets a lot of good reviews on Boardgame Geek....

It sounds like it's actually interesting and FUN. There are more advanced additional rules for older kids that add tactical depth.
