What If? Alternate 19th Century Japanese Imperial Troops
DIGITAL PRODUCT
What If...after consolidating power Tokugawa Ieyasu had not only opened Japan to the outside world, but sent his agents far and wide to discover the secrets of Western technology and bring it back to Japan.
Japan modernized earlier than in our history and in the mid 1900s has a modern, repeating rifle-armed army that combines Japanese and Western tactics. By this time they had achieved the subjugation of China, Korea, and most of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands including the Kingdom of Hawaii and New Zealand which they first made contact with in the late 1600s. The consolidation of the Japanese Empire has led to conflicts with the British and Dutch and Japanese colonies in western North and South America have begun to have incidents with the Spanish, Portuguese/Brazilians, and Americans.
