Bases Survey

We've suddenly found ourselves with seven sets of hard plastic bases in various sizes and styles. We wanted to know what else you'd like us to do for bases?

25mm Square Dual style please!

KatieL – we already do them!

40mm squares which match the GW/EM4 style (slightly textured on top) would be useful and are not otherwise easily obtainable. GW stopped doing them, GF9 used to do some but finding them was hard, Warbases used to retail some but have stopped… And this size is used for historical games to mount figures that would otherwise be on a 2×2 20mm squares.

Goods news here. I love Round Bases with 3mm Bevel Height for my (skirmish) games.

A wish here: for round bases (irregardless of the height) please focus on 25mm, 40mm, 60mm and pill shapes / cavalry bases! For these should cover everything from infantry, animals, monstrous infantry, cavalry, bikes, weapon teams and most gigantic units.
In my opinion any other base sizes are too superfluos and exotic to truly need more than one piece for your army if at all.

As soon I get into historical gaming, your Dual-Use Bases will find their way to me. Maybe Grand Battle Scale this year? So keep up the good work ;-)

I’ve been looking for 40mm round bases recently. Either rocky textured or starship deck would be very useful to me

I know it seems odd, but if you’re doing Spaceship Decking Bases, I’d like a set of Cavalry ones. The kinds of ships used in 40K end up being so large, it’s not impossible to see mounted units in battle. (Though the puddle bases for the horse kits may make them more difficult to use. So there’s a concern.)

The Dual-Use bases are fantastic, please make more. 40mm specific.

I mentioned in my review of the 25mm textured bases that the I would love to see them expand to 32mm and 40mm round. These sizes are a lot more prevalent these days for army-level 28mm and skirmish-level 32mm games. 40mm ones would also be very useful for basing cavalry in games that do not use oval bases for them like Saga or ME:SBG.

The space decking bases sound like a great idea as well, and I would love to see these eventually release in the aforementioned sizes.

Finally, while I would prefer them to be textured/sculpted, I would like to see 60mm bases of some sort offered as WW1/WW2 games tend to use these for HMG teams and artillery emplacements.

Keep up the great work!

Flagstones please! Useful for a whole heap of games. (25mm round)

A sprue of flat thin clear plastic bases with a small lip on one side. Including on the sprue 15mm round (item) 20mm round (small infantry), 25mm round (standard infantry), 40mm round (large monster), 60mm round (huge monster), 30mm pill (small quadruped i.e wolf), 50mm pill (cavalry) and 75mm pill (monsterous cavalry or swarm). If there is room add an 80+mm round (gargantuan monster) also.

I suggest a wide variety of bases with only one of the larger ones and only a few of the smaller. You would do well by reducing the amount of tooling you need by including all the range on one sprue. These minis will be for RPG use so would benefit from maximum variety over bulk.
The lip is for placement of the base. Clear bases scratch easily so they benefit from a lip to minimise contact with the play surface. The lip should itself be rounded to minimise ground contact. Any normal wear will form at worst a ring which will not detract from the base.
