Help Decide our Next Late Roman Sets!

Help Decide our Next Late Roman Sets!

We have a lot of great things in the works for our new Decline and Fall range with the first set Late Roman Legionaries (1): Lorica Hamata coming out soon.

Along with the Romans in mail we have a set of Goths and also two Army Builders for the Romans and the Goths (60 figures each). The main boxes will provide enough command elements to outfit several units when combined with the Army Builder boxes.

This range has several other sets in the works but we wanted to give you the choice as to which ones would come soonest.

To that end here is a survey to mark down your First, Second, and Third choices. Let us know if you have other ideas below. There are no cavalry sets listed but those will be coming later as well.

Mounted Visigoths to complement the foot you are about to release sounds like a good idea.

I am definitely interested in the 3rd Century Crisis of the Roman Empire: mostly Romans vs. Romans and as such equipped with what could be said to be baroque Roman equipments: chainmail and scale mail sometimes closing with a new two-piece breastplate, Niederbieber and Heddernheim helmets, long spathae, specialized missile troops (lanciarii) and extravagant cavalry including cataphracts with fully enclosed helmets and full body armor. These guys could sometimes stop fighting each other to take on new enemies like the Goths & Hermanduri as well as the aggressive Sassanians in Persia. Yes, this era has been criminally under-represented in wargaming and I would buy sets just to paint them up for drawings I am doing about the Severan dynasty. But don’t forget command and Personalities!

For more enemies of Rome I’d say Steppe horse archers that could painted / customized to represent the many different factions that harried late Rome.

Carriage drawn ballistae

My first choice would be Enemies of Rome, specifically Sassanids/Sasanians.

Various Germanic tribes would be very useful enemies, This would include both infantry and cavalry.

Vandals would be great

The most lacking sculpt in the roman period is good armored Gauls . All my european roman enemies from warlord are all unarmored tribesman. Id love to see people from gaul with either roman inspired or roman armor from dead legionaries

Vandals please !
