Two "New" Hard Plastic Sets! (Let Us Explain...)

Two "New" Hard Plastic Sets! (Let Us Explain...)

Today we're excited to announce two "new" hard plastic sets. We say "new" because they are both new versions of previous releases that we think you'll really like! Let's dig in!

First up we have our first Army Box: Skeleton Army! We've taken the frames from WAACF001 Skeleton Warriors and WAACF007 Skeleton Cavalry and Chariots and absolutely filled up a giant box with them to give you a grand total of: 18 Horses, 4 Chariots, and 85 Skeletons! A whopping 23 frames of plastic!

We also have a new Les Grognards box! When we designed the original Grognards we made the 1/2 frame of 3 infantry bodies you know and love and a 1/8 frame of extra heads. We then made another 1/2 frame just of heads and we've mixed these two head frames in the boxes ever since depending on which ones were being produced (depending on the other set that was on the other side of the mold). Well, as the Grognards continue to be super popular the head frame situation got out of hand. And the set on the other side of the 1/2 frame of 3 bodies was getting TOO much production.

To make things easier on us, and to give you something extra for the Grognards, we've retooled the original frames onto one full frame. BUT we've also added a completely new body pose along with a new set of rifle arms. So most of it will be the familiar set you've known but you get a new pose. Each of the new boxes will have 6 of these full frames giving you 24 figures with ALL those head options (with and without gasmasks!)

A New Pose and Arm Set - Painting by Chris Hindmarsh

Both of these sets will go on pre-order next Friday January 31, 2025!

Would have been nice to see some lady heads. I gonna miss the double grenade piece as well, however, I’d rather have the extra pose and body over some grenades any day! Wonder if we are going to get an updated shoulder armor version in the future. More in line with the Cavalry and new arm sculpts?

So, with the change to Les Grognards, how will it affect the free sprues we got for the Damned Pledge?

Quite exciting news about the Les Grognards. I was planning on getting a fair few boxes for a project and this just makes them even more enticing.

Great timing, I am looking to create an Imperial Guard army of Les Grognard, now that there are troopers, command, artillery, and cavalry miniatures.

Oddly I have also been thinking of giving some love to my undead army and the above pack, would be just the boost they need. Making them two hundred plus skellies, 10 chariots, forty horse, plus all the zombies, ghouls, ghasts, ghosts, vampires, wraiths, lichs, and other oddities. These become my favorite fantasy army for campaigning. Virtually unbeatable.

Unrelated note, but I’d love some more aliens to go with those wonderful Harvesters.

The news about the Grognards is also very exciting – It somehow ‘refreshes’ an older set, while making production easier. I’m certain there are complaints from the old Grognard players, but it doesn’t make their existing armies worse in any way.

I have to say, that skeleton army is a wonderful idea, and looks amazing. I know it’s just made up of existing sets, but somehow the whole is greater than the sum. Full marks!

Now this is a pleasant coincedence; just as I was thinking to buy myself the Grognards to use as a steampunk army for my sci-fi wargame, I see this! So now i’ll be able to buy myself a new and improved version of them, really nice!

Red Bee - January 24, 2025

You can never have enough skeletons! That’s a pretty great set.

Would have been cool if the female heads were also in the box. As far as I can tell, that’s no the case.

A small letdown, but overall, I think we can all appreciate this change.
