This is an excellent "starter set" for "The Last War", containing a very nice rulebook, one sprue of WWI French, Russians, Germans, and British soldiers, two sprues of "weird war" conversion bits and rodents of unusual size, tokens, and a set of dice for a reasonable price.
The rulebook contains the basic rules, but also campaign rules, rules for running it as more of an RPG, some extra scenarios and weird characters, extra rules for special items and cat breeds (your squad can have service animals), as well as random terrain generation rules and a lot more little things that give you a great deal of content. Most impressive are the "paper miniatures" you can photocopy and use out of the book!
The individual sprues are fantastic. I never dabble in World War games, so these are my first experience with the genre and I can't say they are superior or inferior to similar models, but I can say that they are a joy to build and nearly infinitely customizable with an absurd number of extra bits. You also only need 5 models per crew to play the game, so this box set gives you more than you could ever need and lots of fodder for kitbashing and just having fun.
You can use the miniatures for any game you like, as well, so this box gets you started with models enough to play all kinds of skirmish games and get some variety in your gaming.
An overall excellent set for someone looking to get into The Last War, or for anyone looking for a good "sample box" with a variety of miniatures and accoutrements to dabble in the wide world of miniature agnostic tabletop games.
