What are some of the units people are hoping to see included on the Grand Battle Scale skeleton sprue?
So far we have been shown a WIP picture of some spearmen which, as we've come to expect from the folks at Wargames Atlantic, are looking fantastic. Although I personally hope the helmets they all seem to be wearing in the picture are just a placeholder and most if not all of them will simply have bare skulls. I can't help but feel a generic set of unarmoured skeletons like those in the 28mm set would be more versatile and more closely match what is usually depicted in classic fantasy art.
I'm hoping to see lots of chaff infantry to build up a horde, and possibly some skeleton horsemen aswell but I'm curious what other units people are hoping for or think may be included.
@Oddball Personally I think if your doing armor for a skellie army, you should either use a wide range of armor from several diffrent nations, giving it an international vibe like the necromancer in charge is plundering the world and its abandoned battlefields, or go with the armor of the human nation its fighting (same deal with zeds).
Or you just make a variety of skeleton armies from different places in the world!
This is mostly why I hope they keep the vast majority of the skellies generic and don't tie them down to any specific setting or era. Adding extra character is much easier done by adding an occasional flavourful model or bit of paint than going the other way and trying to make say undead Romans from a kit clearly geared to the medieval or fantasy or vice versa.
To be fair to Wargames Atlantic, they usually do a very good job at making their kits versatile and usable for all sorts so I expect this will be no different.
@Hudson Adams why, thats more work on the building and painting end, though I suppose you could make arguements on the former with 10mm, that said I think oddball is right about bare for a starting bulk army of skellies even though your 28mm Greek ones actually do work for that overall (I am actually tempted to get them as a fantasy opponet for the Warrior State Chinese once you do them).
@OddballYes I remember that Russian wargame franchise setting, still awesome though I think the background armies of the gods mentioned in the rulebook would have been a more intresting starting point.
