A Raft of Updates!
Ahoy Wargamers!
Like Tom Hanks in Castaway, we have been adrift for awhile but there is hope on the horizon as US Customs has finally unclenched their talons from our molds! Two big deliveries of metal goodness arrived in our US production facility at the end of last week and we have been running them as fast as possible!
US Production
Arriving in the warehouse soon are the Dwarven Host to be quickly followed by Richard Sharpe, Civilians & Survivors (1): Men, and Boneblades! These in turn will be followed by Halfling Cavalry, Operators, the Quar tractors and a big bunch of restocks.
We are holding our breath to see what fresh horrors the US government shutdown might unleash!
UK Production
In the UK we are forging ahead with new molds arriving without complication (knock on wood) and the presses have been running full steam. We'll have a number of restocks into the warehouse next week and then more new releases as boxes and plastic come together.
Coming Up Next
We've also not slackened the pace on getting new sets into the pipeline. It can be hard to keep it all straight to be honest! I'm (Hudson) really excited for you to see what we've been up to. In true Wargames Atlantic fashion it's a mix between the logical and the whimsical and between the popular and the let's just make this and see if they like it! Stay tuned!
Along with the new stuff we've also been retooling some frames to move them from shared molds (i.e. like how the Halfling Militia and original Grognard 1/2 frames shared a 151mm x 223mm mold) to have them on their own on the new 113mm x 151mm mold base size. We've also started duplicating other large molds (things that get a lot of action like the 40mm x 20mm and 25mm Dual Use bases molds) so that we can just keep them in both the US and UK and not have to worry about shipping them back and forth. Perhaps as we continue to grow we'll just make two of each new mold from the get-go, but for the time being it's better to put that money into new sets!
House Style and Standards
As mentioned a couple weeks ago, we've started to implement a house style for sculpting techniques and sizing/proportions so that all our figures going forward will be able to share arms, heads, and other parts and the overall aesthetic of the sculpts is the same. The sculpting team has really embraced the new standard and is excited by the results. I'll get into some real examples in a future post but we believe this new focus will really be a boon to kitbashers, keep our figures consistent, and make them very fast to paint in a way that allows even mediocre painters to achieve great results on the tabletop.
Death Fields Arena and Classic Fantasy Battles
Andy has been hard at work refining DFA based on your feedback as beta testers and from a lot of ongoing internal playtesting results. He's getting close to having a revised version of the rules and once those are out to you he will be back at it with CFB. Keep an eye on this space - and the dedicated Facebook groups to follow along with progress!
The Damned
US backers of The Damned Gamefound campaign are starting to receive their rewards and we'll just keep shipping them all out until they're all out in the wild. Production is running in the UK but we still have a ways to go before we're ready to begin fulfillment. But the end is in sight! And then it will be time for the non-backers to have a chance at The Damned with a new army box and the Mauler being the first two releases with other sets following behind this year and into next.
Onward!
Lots of plastic in the works along with several special projects as we continue to grow our product catalog, expand into new types of product offerings, and launch some new partnerships to bring more new games and figures to you.
Thanks once again for joining us on this crazy journey. We promise there are many twists and turns and treasure to come!
And, as always, Happy Wargaming!
