Bases Galore!

Bases Galore!

Apparently it's Base Season here at Wargames Atlantic because we've been working on a LOT of them!

As you might have seen recently we will have 50mm round (3mm bevel edge) textured bases soon:

We are also adding two new Dual Use bases to our General Accoutrements range. Dual Use bases (like our first 25mm round ones here) are designed so that one side has a recessed area that allows a puddle base (attached to a figure's feet) to fit comfortably inside. Then when you fill the gaps the figure's feet will be flush with the base edge eliminating that tell-tale mound. The other side is slightly textured and flat to accommodate figures without puddle bases.

We're adding two more in this format. First we have a 50mm x 25mm pill base for cavalry:

We also have just finished tooling 40mm x 20mm Dual Use Bases:

These are designed to work perfectly with our Grand Battle Scale 10mm figures. When you put the puddle side into the recess you can have 6 models across (and up to 3 ranks deep). You'll notice we also have 20mm x 10mm pill and 10mm round TINY dual use bases on there. We'll let you know more about those at a later date!

These 40mm x 20mm bases can also fit 2-3 28mm figures depending on how their built/type of figure.

We're thinking about doing dual use 40mm squares too:

Would you like them? Let us know below and also if there are other sizes for textured and dual use bases you'd like us to manufacture for you. Happy Wargaming!

Definitely 40×20and40x40, just played Midgard and it would really work for your 10mm, the orcs are fab, can’t wait to see others. Warrior units on the bigger base and skirmishers on the half base. Hero’s on 15 pr 20mm diameter would be nice too.

Excellent stuff!
I wonder, would there be much appetite for 20×20, 25×25, 25×50, and 50×50mm dual use bases as well? As a WHFB player who’s using lots of kits like WGA’s fantasty ranges to build old school armies, these would be really useful and saves having to faff about cutting the puddles off models. Also, since they are square-sided, it means fewer/smaller gaps between them when the unit is ranked up (and which I think looks better).

I would find the 40 × 40 quite useful!

40mm x 20mm is my preferred base sizing and it’s what I plan on using for the Samurai. The only unit that gives me pause on that is the Ashigaru with mixed weapons – there’s just two trips of five in the box (unless I’m missing something), so it doesn’t seem possible to base these up with a frontage of six on a 40mm x 20mm. Was this intentional, I wonder? Or am I missing something?

Dual Use Bases in both 40×40 and bigger could actually be helpful in providing movement tray alternatives depending on how many you can fit in there.

Yes to all the bases! We can use them for the games!

Joe Sullivan - August 19, 2024

Yes to the 40×40′s! That’ll be great for historicals!

Benjamin - August 17, 2024

The 40×40 would be really useful. Most of my historicals are based on 40×40, and usually come with puddles.

YESSSS on the 40×40mm dual use bases PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
