The Orcs Prepare to March!

The Orcs Prepare to March!

We're very excited to announce that the very first hard plastic box set for Classic Fantasy Battles is almost with us! The Orc Horde!

Once loyal servants of the Many-Named, the orcs splintered into scattered tribes and bandit kingdoms after his defeat. Now, they roam the wild lands bordering the Free Kingdoms, their former power diminished by the passage of centuries.

The strength of the High Queen has kept them largely pacified, though orc raiders still prey on undefended trade caravans and outlying villages. Yet, fractured and divided, they have not raised their banners in open war in mortal memory.

Recently, however, troubling whispers have begun to spread—rumors of something stirring in the lands of the Orc. The Free Kingdoms watch and wait…

This hard plastic box set includes three frames with 84 figures for a total of 252 figures in the box along with 40mm x 20mm dual use bases. From this box you can build the following:

  • 72 bowmen (6 bases)
  • 36 spearmen (3 bases)
  • 36 light swordsmen (3 bases)
  • 36 heavy swordsmen (3 bases)
  • 36 heavy axemen (3 bases)
  • 12 warg riders (6 bases)
  • and 15 command and 9 casualties

The Orc Horde will be going on pre-order next Friday, March 21st! We will also be starting our series on the Classic Fantasy Battles rules by Andy Hobday. The first article will discuss basing for the game. Come back next Friday for more!

Quite a Beastie feast here.

Looking forward to seeing the next article on basing for the upcoming rules – thanks for starting with that!

$35-40 is a good price for 8 warmaster units, bases, command, and casualties (for markers, I guess). Cheaper than 3D prints or metal models.

I’m genuinely quite excited about this. It’s prodding part of my brain that’s not quite nostalgia.

They just look so neat.

I’m definitely feeling a ‘Warmaster’ reawakening, but that said I will be very interested to see Andy’s rules as he has an excellent reputation in that respect 😀

So, 12x infantry figures to each base? Does this mean 2x ranks each of 6 figures?
Very excited to see what else comes for this range. I know Dwarves are right at the top of my wishlist :)

I’m super excited for these! would be very interested in rules/basing guidelines.

Looks great! Can’t wait to pre-order these!!

David – what’s unfair? The Samurai were not at the time designed for a specific game. The Orcs are designed specifically to play Classic Fantasy Battles. The boxes give you the core of your army. So they come with the appropriate bases. Each box will have different numbers of frames depending on what is needed. We’re not selling plastic by the ounce. LOL it’s what’s on the plastic.

David - March 14, 2025

Three miniatures sprues + 1 bases sprue. Not fair. Samurai have four sprues of miniatures. Why the change in this box?

“No! we don’t wanna go to WAAAGH TaDay
But da Lord ‘O’ the Lash sayz ‘NayNayNay’
We’z Gunna March All Day All Day All Day
Wer Derz ah WIP, Derz ah Way!”

Looks like (legally distinct) WARMASTER’s Back in the Menu BOYZ!
