THE WARRIORS OF VALHALLA TAKE THE FIELD…

The Einherjar have arrived, bringing the heavy-hitting, resilient playstyle of space-dwarves to the tabletop. This roster is built for players who want to hold their ground and punish anyone brave enough to close the distance.

Abducted from their longship on the return voyage from a raid on Wessex, these Norsemen’s new owner settled them on a high gravity world and began their training for the Death Fields circuit. After each battle as wounds miraculously healed and even the dead were brought back to life, the warriors thought of themselves as the fabled Einherjar - the ghostly warriors of Valhalla who fight and die each day and are reborn to feast each night. 

Over the centuries, their ongoing regeneration while living primarily on their high-gravity homeworld has resulted in stunted growth for themselves and their offspring. Their diminished stature in no way effects their prowess in the Arena as they win contest after contest against other teams human and otherwise.

Where They Excel: Unstoppable Resilience and Melee Might

The Einherjar are, above all, incredibly difficult to shift. Their strength lies in their defensive synergies and high-impact specialized units:

  • Shield Wall Synergy: Most units benefit from the Shield Wall! ability, gaining +1 to Defence Rolls when within 2" of a friendly model.

  • Elite Protection: Leaders like the Konungr and Jarl carry the Svalinn Shield, providing an 8+ shield save and an extra die to Defence rolls in both melee and ranged combat.

  • Brutal Close Quarters: When the enemy gets close, the Einherjar excel. The Berserker and Konungr feature Slayer’s Instinct, allowing for re-rolls on Melee Attack rolls. Combined with the Blood Axe (-1 Defence Modifier, Crit Damage) or Dual Blood Axes (-2 Defence Modifier), they can carve through the toughest opposition.

  • Specialized Firepower: For range, they rely on devastating specialized weapons like the Thunder Cannon (Crit Stress, -2 Defence Modifier) and the Heavy Flamer, which uses the Fury of Muspelheim ability to roll two dice for damage and pick the highest.

The Trade-Off: Slow and Steady (Mostly Slow)

The biggest hurdle for an Einherjar commander is Movement. With a standard Movement characteristic of 6 across the entire roster, they aren't going to win any races.

  • Low Mobility: Their base movement is modest, meaning they can be outmaneuvered by faster, more agile teams who can pick their engagements.

  • The Jarl's Role: To mitigate this, the Jarl is an essential inclusion. Their Raid! ability allows friendly models activating within 4" to add 2" to their Movement, providing a much-needed speed boost to get your heavy hitters into the fray.

  • Stress Management: While they are slow, they are disciplined. The Skald helps keep the line moving by removing Stress from nearby models at the start of their activation.
