ÉCRASE-LES!

“Crush them!” Ney’s famous command to the cavalry at Waterloo is the battle cry of Les Grognards Cavalry units. These hard-hitting units are a devastating addition to the Grognard team’s efforts on the Death Fields Circuit and just a few can turn the tide of battle.

This box set includes enough parts to build 9 hard plastic cavalry that can be equipped with lance, pistol, or sword. Horses can be built plain or with armored heads, chests, and caparisons. Three types of gas-masked headgear will create different styles of rider. And of course all parts are compatible with other Les Grognards plastic sets.

All parts in this set are also compatible with the other Les Grognards box sets to give you even more options.

There are 3 main frames with riders and horse equipment and 3 frames of plain horses.

Great Supplement to Grognard Infantry

Overall, I am quite pleased by this kit in terms of quality and detail. The horses look great armored and unarmored, and the riders are good as well. The riders are also easily kitbashed with other Wargames Atlantic and 3rd party bits. The sprues do not come with unmasked heads, but the infantry and command boxes come with so many extra that it’s an easy swap, and they fit perfectly.

The biggest issue with the kit, as stated in other reviews, is that the rider and armored upgrades to the horse don’t fit well, and are confusing to assemble unguided. While I could use plastic glue on everything else, superglue was almost necessary to provide the extra material to stick the rider to their saddle, the armor/reins to the caparison, and the caparison to the body. A short assembly video from bare horse to finish, or even a step-by-step build order recommendation like in Goonhammer’s review of the kit would work wonders.

That said, the models are sturdy, cross-compatible, and importantly for army building look great together. Putting riders and horses together at somewhat random leads to a cohesive but diverse enough force that many mono-pose models fail to create. If you’ve already got the base Les Grognards models, and want to add light or heavy cavalry support, I’d recommend this box.

The charge

Great set shame no rifles, but kitbashing solved the problem . The armed version is a pain to fit and don't fit fell but still worth every penny. Instructions please how hard is it to not have a download?

Can't wait review so unable to respond without making another review

Original review: I got these and 2 packs of infantry and the infantry was so high quality and easy as pie to assemble I'm just utterly blown away by how terrible these cavalry are. I would rather pay an arm and a leg for GW plastic than ever buy these again.

>> Wargames Atlantic replied:
Hi Justin - what seems to be the problem? Thousands of folks have built these without any issues they're not all that complex?

Response: The main complaint in reviews is how fiddly this kit is, so it's a bit bold to claim it's not complex. But sure, I'll go into detail. The horses come in two pieces and then the head, that part is easy. Saddle next, also easy it fits into place well. If you want armored horses you then need to glue on two cape-like pieces onto the horses neck - these pieces don't fit well at all, leaving me to believe either that's not the next step, or it's just not well shaped. Next is the reins, which is just a U shaped piece thats seems far too large for where it goes, which then connects incredibly awkwardly to an armored plate in the front of the horses chest. I flat out gave up on trying to get those parts to fit together over the terrible cape pieces so my units don't have reins. The infantry units don't fit well onto the saddles at all either, leaving them all leaning weirdly, either a result of making the unit wrong or badly shaped leg pieces I'm not sure. So yes, these need build instructions.

Sorry you had problems building them!
