VIVE LA FRANCE!

The team began with a core of Napoleon’s Young and Old Guard from Waterloo and later were reinforced with troops from the Western Front of the Great War and decades later from the jungles of Vietnam. Over the centuries, their shared French language and culture (and trades by owners) have brought them together as a combined team on the Death Fields circuit. Even after centuries, the elite members of Les Grognards go to battle with the cry: “Vive la France!”

This box set includes enough parts to build 24 heroic scale 28mm figures with a variety of options including standard rifles, heavy lasers, flamethrowers, pistols, swords, heavy plasma guns, communication packs, and grenades. There are also four unique head types with and without gas-masks (192 total heads in this box)s.

  • Sculpting: Bob Naismith and Thieu Duong
  • Illustration: Diego Gisbert Llorens
  • Figure Painting: Matthew Leahy and Andy Zeck and Chris Hindmarsh

Models require assembly and painting. Bases are not included.

The original Grognards box was released in 2019 and featured a 1/2 frame of 3 bodies with weapons and a separate either 1/4 or 1/2 frame of heads. In 2025 we have updated the set to be built on one full frame with four bodies (one new pose and set of rifle arms) and all the head options included on the frame for those four figures.

Big Gerry of On Table Top provides a comprehensive review of the set along with build options, tips, and ideas. Please note this review is for the original set built on a 1/2 frame and we have now updated the set to be on a full frame:

Nicely done retool. Clean and crisp molding.

Great value for price

Good amount of detail, only minor clean up of mold lines. A greater variety of head options, only wish there was a similar variety of body poses.

Perfect for horde tactics.

I use these models as proxys for a fortykay and they are perfect for a list that maximizes the horde nature of the guard. They look unique, but not out of place, and the poses, if modeled right, give a real advancing across no man's land feel that perfectly encapsulates the lore feeling of that army. The new sprue also has numerical guides so you don't have remember which arm fits which rifle each time, which is perfect for a person such as myself who loves to relax with a couple few drinks while assembling troopers after work.

These are awesome models. I love the shako heads and the bits seem to work well with other model kits so I’ll be doing some kit bashing and conversions with these models

Great Value

These minis aren't just a great value, they look great as well. They are easy to assemble. They also come with plenty of options to include multiple heads and special weapons.
