THE LIGHT OF FOOT

The Ashigaru (“light of foot” in Nihongo) were the backbone of 16th and early 17th century Japanese armies. Originally wandering mercenaries that came from peasant stock, they were organized into more formal units as the centuries passed. Over time they also gained in status although still existed below the Samurai class. In the later periods they accounted for between 60 and 80% of armies.

This hard plastic box set allows you to field up to 328 10mm soldiers equipped with yari (spear/pike), naginata (pole arm), yumi (longbow), and teppo (musket). You can see the mix of one, two, three, and five man strips on the back of the box with the variety of weapons. There are also 12 casualty figures included to use for scenic basing or as markers.

Models require assembly and painting. Bases are not included. Not for Children. Contents may vary from photos.

Bad Casting resulting in too many snapped parts

The Company should never have released the figures in its current format There was a big disconnect between the figure sculptors and the casters. The pole weapons, particular spears, are just too thin The casting setup was ridiculous one figure had three attachments points to the tree. It is impossible to cut the spears out without damage ( primarily snapping some, bending and tags ) I managed to break about 25percent Trying to attach broken parts in 10mm is a pain and visually bad. I read that the company says that future releases will have thicker parts but it does not help me . Sometimes you have to change scale depictions to enable easier construction I don't like the comment that if you take care you will be OK with the spears which frustrates makes me feel good The average builder will have problems especially when you add in aging This will limit your sales and I know of several gamers that will not buy this set but will go with 10mm metal.

If you look at the video on the product page it would help you cut the parts from the frame. The only challenge here are the pikes. If you do it correctly with the proper tools it's easy. I've personally clipped EVERY pike off a frame in less than 3 minutes with zero breaks - and I've done it multiple times. I'm sorry you had trouble with them. Excellent figures! Spears require extra care.

Awesome looking, Pretty good, yet fragile.

Hi guys.
I just clipped and regimented these infantrymen and yeah we all heared about fragile spears. Details are pretty nice, cleaning went nicely enough.
About 3 units of Yari, 2 units of Tepo, 1 unit Naginata, 1 unit of yumi. Could be more, but . . .
Just one thing, 5 guys bit have width about 35mm and there are no singles in line pose. And as I want to base them in 40mm strips to make them look as much as shoulder to shoulder as possible it took some cutting.
So awesome models just some singles would be fine.

the armies are really very beautiful, I hope that in the future you will also produce other historical armies, always in 10 mm
