Conquistador Cavalry...and Another Set! Update!

The Conquistador Cavalry parts have come back from engineering and are now ready for layout. And hoo boy there are a LOT of parts: 

 

This got us thinking...let's make TWO plastic sets! 

So here's the plan. We'll take the doggos, the unarmored bodies, the unarmored arms, and open-faced helms and create a true Conquistador Cavalry set. BUT...we will take the armored bodies, armored arms, full helmets, and the armored horse parts to create more traditional European cavalry of the period. 

We'll give pre-production order folks the option for which they'd like to receive and produce both sets at once.

Bit of a bummer the kit’s getting split, but end of the day I respect the reasons behind that decision. I was in the market more so for armored cavalry anyway, so no real harm done for me. I suppose I should be glad, in fact!

Great… had been looking at these for Border Rieivers but the initial sprue seemed to have too many plate Armoured parts.

I’m all for a second box of cavalry, generic european cavalry alongside the mounted conquistadors sounds great.

On the other hand, it’s going to be strange that the conquistador cavalry only has unarmoured bodies when the infantry box sports more armoured bodies, there’s a big inconsistency with the boxes right there. Conquistadors wore metal armour on or off horses, so I don’t really understand why you’d want to completely remove the armoured bodies from the conquistador cavalry box.

Phenomenal choice to make it 2 sets. I know many players are looking for an empire knight proxy and the armored cavalry set can fill that void for sure.
