You've Chosen! December AND January Themes!

We had a fast response for the call to votes on the December theme with the "What If?" category rocketing to the top. A close second was perennial favorite "All Things Africa" - so we're doing both!

We'll tackle "What If?" for December and "All Things Africa" will be our January theme! Feel free to post below, or on our page at MyMiniFactory, or on the forums, or our Facebook Group with your ideas for these themes for the 11 ranges. We have a few already but the more the merrier!

I would love some scifi Egyptians or Zulu for Deathfields. For historicals, some soldiers from Great Zimbabwe or Kush or “Crusades” era Ethiopia would be cool.

I’m glad that Africa made it, even if we had to kind of cheat it to a January victory lol

Its a bit of a broken record but the hole in wargames and roleplay material for the african continent is huge. I would love modern stuff from the Ethiopian-Eritrean conflicts, the late century continental wars centered around Congo, and all that. As well, in the style of the civilian packs, anything that would allow for populating scenes on the continent would be immensely useful.

Also the obvious choice for death fields is the unconquered soldiery of Ethiopia, or perhaps an army reflecting the diverse nature of conflict between eastern congo to zanzibar, with influences from the caliphates, the saudi, and the indigenous kingdoms. Cowrie shell finery, ancient steel, and the spirit of those who have fought every conqueror on the planet.

Here’s my recommendations for the Africa set:

Sci-Fi: another vote for Space Zulus
Classic Fantasy: maybe some kind of human warriors wearing Nok inspired masks?
First Empires: Third Intermediate Period Kushitic dynasty in Egypt
Decline and Fall: Meroe warriors (1st Century BC – 6th century AD)
Blood Oaths: Zanj Slave Revolt
Renaissance: Ethiopian warriors circa the Ethiopian-Adal War (16th century)
Napoleon Wars: British West Indian Regiments (partially made up of Africans recruited from modern day Sierra Leone)
Imperial Conquests: 19th century Ethiopians for the Abynissian Expedition, Mahdist War, and Italo-Ethiopian Wars
Great War: King’s African Rifles
World Aflame: No idea
General: modern day African civilians

Alternate History:
WW2 USA Nazi invasion civilians
WW1 US invasion of Canada
Dark Ages more advanced Native Americans conquering England

Africa:
I like the Death Fields Zulu idea maybe vibro-asseggais
Fantasy – Rhino people
Decline and Fall – Vandals

Such great subjects can’t wait!

Ooooh an idea for What if could be something inspired by the Roswell alien crash like what if it really was aliens

I can’t help but feel like Zulus are a bit over represented due to the popularity of the movie & the folks generally not knowing a lot about pre-colonial African history so I’m very excited for January. What if has so many possibilities I can’t think of just one per era. Very excited 😁

Kingdom of Benin would be great for Africa inspired death fields.

Jesse White - November 9, 2023

Rebel Yell special weapons teams or command group.

General Jim - November 9, 2023

I like both of these. In fact I voted for both of them!
Evil hobbits. Zulus. Death Field Zulus. Alt history where Zulu are technologically superior invading England.
