Any chance for modern fantasy kits?
Any chance for modern fantasy kits?
if you mean "fantasy creatures in modern times", just stick orc heads onto the 'civilians and survivors' kits.. most urban fantasy setting go one of two ways.. "traditional fantasy monsters living in secret alongside modern man" (at which point you can generally just use the normal fantasy figures, with perhaps an arm swap for guns here and there) or "fantasy creatures as minorities in human society", which is a head swap situation..
@Mithril2098 Not "modern" in modern days.
Modern, not looking like 70's orcs, and more weta workshop orcs.
Modern design.
I dunno man, the odds of WGA suddenly shifting their style feels pretty low. Even if they did, it feels like they'd want to do a kit that's not really on the market yet, like with the guards/villagers kit. You might be better off checking out mantic or something similar, though IDK where you'd find epic scale.
@Vitor Correia you are going to have to define what you mean better then, because "modern" is not really descriptive. especially if you cite Weta's LOTR/Hobbit film Orcs as "not modern"
@timbus the thirteenth a shame the design choice. I just can't enjoy the 70's look. Not much choice in the market for 10mm fantasy plastic tbf. Well money not spent.
It seems they've decided on the Angus McBride look, given their Goblins and the digital Orcs they have/had available through Strange Plastic.
And some of us think that is best orc look ever.....
@Marc Hameleers Absolutlely. Because it's true.
How to ask for Battle of Five Armies minis without asking for Battle of Five Armies minis...
@Hudson Adams While I do like the Angus McBride orc designs alot, I have to disagree on it being the best since there is no best look persay for orcs same deal as other fantasy races (though there are several too goofy to be taken seriously designs and things that never should have been done🤣).
Frankly I still think the noble orcs you have as STLs would be a better design to do first simply because there is nothing like them in plastic and they would work well with the traitors toll sets. That said the Angus McBride design is the safe choice to go with for the orcs since it works with the spiders, goblins, and halfings and can mix in well with the orc offerings of at least 2 other manufacturers.
it's also not a style that is immediately affiliated with a major corporations intellectual property. making orcs in the style of 40K, Warcraft, or tolkien properties open you up to lawsuits from Games Workshop, Activision, Warner Brothers, or Amazon..
