BEF! Decisions, Decisions! Help Us Pick!

The layout is back for the BEF and we have some choices to make as not all the parts will fit!

Here is the wishlist we sent to layout:

And here is where we are:

As you can see there are a lot of parts that aren't fitting currently including most of the duplicated items that are needed on the frame to outfit the six figures. There are some extra covered helmet heads that can go away without much fuss.

But before we took our red Sharpie to this we wanted to hear from you! Let us know what you would like to see done here to get to a complete, final frame of parts.

(Also keep in mind that some of these parts can also end up on the weapons team frame)

Opine away below!

I would get rid of No 41 to 51 and No 25. I would also get rid of the scarf (88) and one of the Tommy Gun (97 or 95)… One of the heads (between 33 and 39) could also go. I would like to see the firing revolver hand in and all the rifle options (83 to 86)… IMHO, No 69 would be a better option than 70…

I’d drop one lot of the covered helmets and all but two of the service / officer caps. Most officers wore helmets on the frontline. The Thompsons need to be there as they are Home Guard issued for NCOs / squad support. A quality aiming arm for a Webley pistol could work nicely.

I’d suggest dropping in arm options where the helmets were, and another Lewis Gun pairing where you can.

I would loose half of the covered helmets. Reduce the number of Thomsons. Just use the straight arm with the pistol. Reduce the BARs and replace them with rifles and gubbins

Agree with comments on Tommy gun, fairly unlikely for BEF, like the Lewis gun option Bren hadn’t been in production long.

I think there needs to be space for as many M17 rifles as possible. Any extras I got from this kit I was going to use to kitbash with the British WW1 kit to make some dough boys.

I don’t tend to ever use the covered canvas helmets so wouldn’t miss them. I would rather lose the Tommy guns in favour of the extra rifles as I think having enough Lee Enfield and M17s gives more variety.

Also if we have a pistol arm on the frame I’d personally prefer to have a straight armed firing position as most other kits have bent arm and it makes for repetitive poses for them all to be the same.

Since there is an option for a weapons team sprue, I would say leave out parts 1, 2, R10, L10, R11, L11, and 18. I would use those gaps to fill in from parts 78 to 86 and use the dropped heads for the gubbins.

I would have preferred the Lewis gun being carried (69) instead of the Bren Gun being carried (18). It could then be used with the WWI kits and any spares could also be kit bashed to go on vehicles.

Sam Robertson - December 18, 2023

I would really like part 79 on the sprue, I don’t think you get many pistols being aimed on ww2 kits, and I’d really appreciate having that included.
