Up Close: The Damned Infantry

Up Close: The Damned Infantry

The first of a series of posts highlighting what's been done already to make these new plastic sets a reality. Rob Macfarlane who also sculpted the Dark Age Irish, Einherjar, Late Romans and Goths, Conquistadors and Aztecs, and the Landsknecht Ogres has been hard at work on these new sets for The Damned.

Today we're taking a closer look at the parts for The Damned Infantry frame. This first image are all the unique parts that have been done so far (i.e. these are not the final frame inclusions) We'll also be taking feedback before and during (and after!) the campaign as we work toward a final frame layout. One thing that will definitely be coming is more head options!

Next up are some of the combinations that can be assembled from these parts:

Keep in mind these are work-in-progress, the final frame inclusions have not been locked down, and that parts from the other 7 frames (well maybe not the Brutes!) can be mixed and matched with all of these too.

We'll be back in a couple days with the next preview!

I mean what can I say… Shut up and take my money I think… Really looking forward to seeing the artillery and the tank.

Those Damned infantry look good. I look forward to seeing the other Damned sets in detail. You’d be able to make a whole Damned army!

Gorgeous, simply gorgeous work. An absolute will-buy.

Fantastic looking models. Agree on the addition of a more normal head type with helmet as I can think of many uses for these with the right look. WGA should just produce some head sprues for us to convert with.

I am not worried about a kneeling leg set as I would take those from the heavy weapons box.

Walt is very spot on with helmets, and Chris as some sound ideas, I`d like some helmets to have a touch of the past ( today) say a light bracket at the front, so night vision could be added by your selves or us.
Plus some back packs, then put a back pack mount on the rear armour. Doesn`t have to be a pack for every figure , unless it`s asked for, just a few,
These are a really good product and as I don`t touch GW with a barge pole there are vast opertunities for these sets for so many games. The new forth coming Doomed and Xeno Rampant to name just two. Well done Wargames Atlantic “You hit the ground running”, Rob Mcfarlane, well done, a job planed and made perfect. These will be winners!

A kneeling figure would add a lot more variety and possibilities for using the set

These look awesome! My suggestion would be more pouches and side items, like evil books or severed heads, as well as things to glue on the back like back packs and gas tanks

Dark Don - May 11, 2023

I don’t play a certain dark millennium game but if I did these would be in order ASAP. I may purchase some anyways!
Would like to see some “alien cultists” but I’m thinking one could make some from these with little conversion.

These look amazing. Quiet a bit of variety of options

Walt - May 11, 2023

I think it would be nice if we could have some more generic helmeted heads so we could have the option to make them look like they are relatively normal soldiers that have been on campaign a really long time.
