The recent announcement has me excited for the 'Grand Battle Scale Azincourt armies'. This might just be my ticket to wargaming the Hundred Years' War and other wars in the late middle ages. With very little to go on so far, let's get that rumour mill going and maybe even indulge in a little wishlisting. Who knows, maybe a few wishes will even be granted?
Speculation
Based on the earlier samurai release I'd assume there will probably be three boxes - one French, one English and one command. In the English box I'd expect well more than half the models to be longbowmen and the rest dismounted men-at-arms. In the French box I'd expect crossbowmen and mounted and dismounted men-at arms. In the command box I'd expect a mixture of mounted and dismounted standard bearers, musicians and assorted commanders for both sides. In line with the samurai army command box, I'd expect all lances and other polearms to be a bit beefier than those fragile ashigaru pikes.
Wishlist
No stakes for the longbowmen or pavises for the crossbowmen please. I can easily make those out of plastic rod and plasticard so would rather get more models on the sprues.
I'd be really happy if the release's scope could be expanded beyond just the battle of Agincourt. I'd be interested both in earlier battles during the Hundred Years' War and in other wars during the late middle ages. The addition of other troop types like spearmen, billmen and light horsemen could vastly increase the number of options. I'm no expert on medieval armour and equipment but hopefully there wasn't too much going on at Agincourt that would make the models obviously unsuitable for other battles/wars in the late 1300s/early 1400s.
