My question is, to not bury the lead, are we going to get more ranges and options than just fusiliers in greatcoats? My post-pandemic painting project has been finishing my 28mm French army. I've got 12ish units of horse painted, and I'm slowly starting to focus on bulking up the infantry to sufficient numbers.
This is amazing news to me, I absolutely love their stuff and have 3D printed plenty of it. Their sculpts are amazing, on par or better than even the Perry twins.
But miniatures printed out of resin, at least for me, are orders of magnitude more fragile than plastic and metal. That honeymoon period is long since over. I'll happily stock up on plastic models from Piano, just make me a happy camper and tell me we're going to get more than just greatcoats...
i'd assume that this partnership is in part to help WGA fill out their Napoleonic range faster. since that's not gotten a lot of attention in the Sprue game polls or the older fan voting system, but it is clearly one that WGA's own staff definately like given the Sharpes rifles project.
they state that the french infantry in greatcoats is just the first set, so i'd assume that there are more planned.
am i the only one who's a little more cautious about this? napoleonics have about a million excellent ranges, and i'm not really sure what wga can bring to the table. normally this wouldn't be an issue, but between the damned, two marcher gamefounds, the still unfinished sprue game, iron core, fleshing out death fields, about a million gorgeous and unique kits locked behind digital, and oh yeah the giant global recession, i feel like they have their hands full with in-house stuff. then again im not a napoleonics player, so maybe these guys are some kind of massive niche. but i feel like between victrix and perry, most units they could produce are already thoroughly produced to an insanely high standard.
Yes loads more on the way from Lucas at Piano - he's sculpting away! And of course we also have Atlantic releases coming for the Sharpe game later this year to help flesh out all the units you'll need for the first game-in-a-box.
I'm hoping that with a few tweaks to the molds, WA and Piano will release a boatload of similar boxes of greatcoat-clad men to fill out the massed ranks of infantry. Especially important would be Austrians (with helmet and shako options), British and Russians (both types of shako as options), and Bavarians (only need one helmet type, so maybe also throw in another German state like Wurtemberg).
