I've been thinking of collecting some Lorica Hamata for representing the Third Century Crisis and everything leading up to it. More specifically the 260s to 270s so I can represent the Palmyra and Gallic Empires. What I'm trying to figure out is what they look like, and how to paint them up.
Especially figuring out what models to use to represent the three roman empires and help make them distinct.
@Charles Tottington why not look them up online? from what I can tell by WA digital and Osprey pictures Palmyra's troops look like they could fit in Crusader armies almost but with a sorta of "fantasy vibe" (they had kit sheilds and chainmail coifs but somehow tropical/medtrrian).
Gallics?... Best advice I can give is just paint your late romans green and use the Irish bodies for the auxillery troops if you want it to be fancy and we are talking the British Isles.
