"Space Brits" Work in Progress

After the Cannon Fodder release this summer, our next faction for Death Fields are the "Space Brits" (name to be determined). Here's a shot of some of the parts we're working on.

There will be four bodies on the sprue with enough standard rifles and heads (with and without gasmasks) for all of them.

We're not sure if we'll do shoulder pads, back packs, maybe epaulettes? Let us know your advice below!

Nice looking set. Personally I wouldn’t use shoulder pads and prefer some trench raider style weapons instead. As for a name how about using The Old Contemptibles as the British Tommy’s adopted the name after the Kaiser referred to them as a contemptible little army early in WW1.

Definitely seconding the call for turbaned head options.

A scifi Charge of the Light Brigade
To fit with the Bear skin heads on the infantry

My only concern here is that they don’t really look like space Pomms, they look like normal Pomms.

The British have the problem of an 18th century uniform and a 20th-21st century rifle being together not looking weird because of how long they have used the dress uniform. Bear Skins are still really common in British units today.

I think there needs to be something in there that screams something isn’t quite right here, like in the Les Grognards kit the bearskins are totally out of place as those had being well and truly put out of a job in France by the time the First World War came around, as can been seen by the fact that the modern French Republican Guard Cavalry and Infantry wear plumed hats (metal ones for the Cavalry and Fabric for the Infantry).

Perhaps some exposed armor plates on some of the chests could alleviate this.

The heads in the peaked service caps look wrong – British service caps were much less rigid than these appear

If you are looking at British inspiration for the weaponry, could we have a sword that looks more like a British one? And definitely not a chainsaw or other GW inspired stuff.
Also, rather than the bazooka style weapon why not something uniquely British like a PIAT?
Similarly, the flamethrower looks more American in style, the British WWII (the Lifebuoy) one looks a bit more exotic or possibly more SF than the 2 bottles version?

These look excellent, I especially like the addition of bearskins and pith helmets, though at least 2 gas masked variants for each would be glorious, just my opinion. It’s clear that you really understand the gamers needs when it comes to miniatures. Well done all and don’t stop coming up with class creations.

No to epaulets, no to shoulder pads, the SMG should have a side magazine: more Steyr/Sten style. Would prefer if the rifles were more L1A1/SLR style, rather than Enfield/SMLE style. Every manufacturer does brodie helmets, how about slouch caps and/or either stovepipe or belgic shakos instead?

I am particularly interested in the possibilities for using these for Victorian SciFi, and would like to see enough heads with pith helmet and respirator / gas mask for all of the figures. To use them, say, on a Martian campaign possibly small oxygen tanks to go with the respirator? A variety of back backpacks would be useful. Victorian era rifles would be good, and would also allow the figures to be used for colonial infantry. Some Victorian Sci-Fi heavy weapons, perhaps a small gatling gun style machine gun would also be useful. These would then mix well with the Lizardmen.

How about some commando beret heads?
