The Rising Tide of Costs Advances...and the Center Cannot Hold!

The Rising Tide of Costs Advances...and the Center Cannot Hold!

Since 2019 we have kept our pricing fairly consistent - $34.95/£25, $39.95/£30, etc - even through covid and Trump #1. Last year, with inflation down and the economy the best it had been in over 50 years, we thought we had it knocked. But now we have the chaos of Trump #2, costs rising around the world driven by the tariff disaster, the dismantling of all the programs that were driving the booming economy, and overall uncertainty hurtling us toward a recession.

We successfully mitigated the tariff issues - see here, here, and here - but the whirlwind of chaos and subsequent rise in costs - plastic, paper, printing, freight, etc - have forced us to increase our prices.

We pride ourselves on being incredibly frugal. We have streamlined our operations considerably and we are as virtual of an organization as we can be. The majority of our employees are remote, we use a host of talented freelancers, we constantly monitor our costs and seek out new vendors on a regular basis to keep from complacency. But this time it's out of our hands.

Prices across the board are rising ~8% although not all products will have the same % increase. New products will be launched at the new pricing, but the existing catalog will NOT be increased until Monday September 15th.

This all feels a bit hypocritical because I've (Hudson) always made fun of the fact that price increases are announced in our little wargames "industry" unlike - well - literally any other real industry out there. But Charlie convinced me that we have to give folks a chance to take advantage before the prices go up. So here we are.

In better news - our UK plastic operation has just delivered the following frames to the UK warehouse:

  • Mounted Knights
  • Mounted Serjeants
  • more Levy
  • 25mm Deck Bases
  • Dwarven Host
  • 1/2 of the Dark Ages Army Builder
  • 32mm Texture Bases (3mm Bevel)
  • 25mm Texture Bases (2mm)
  • and Richard Sharpe! (although we're just printing the boxes now)

Completed production molds are shipping over to the US as we speak...type...er as you're reading this...

In the coming week we'll have the Grogards back in stock, the Satyr Brutes, and possibly the Civilians/Survivors! The two new mold bases come online then as well so production doubles and then the next two will be here within 3 weeks further speeding things up for the UK and rest of world. Huzzah!

In the US we also have some big changes afoot which we'll announce next week as well. All good stuff!

And, finally, the Barons' War is back in stock everywhere in the world!

The times they are a-changing and I’m surprised you held the line this long. Love your models guys! Keep up the great work. Even with higher prices they’re a fantastic value.

Justin - August 19, 2025

I have no issue with prices increase as times demand….as long as they decrease as times demands. One thing I CANNOT stand is when companies raise prices when times are hard, but then don’t lower them once the storm is over. Pure greed.

Hold onto your hats folks because this train ride is about to go off the rails. American economy is barreling toward the cliff. Make America Depressed Again I guess?

Sorry to the fine people at Atlantic that you have to try to operate a niche business that sells globally during this absolute nightmare. I’ll keep buying as long as my company keeps paying me!

If the obvious political slant in the article is some kind of an attempt at getting people to focus on arguing with one another in the comments to spare you their ire for the price rises… congratulations, I suppose. It worked, but I’m pretty sure it was entirely unnecessary. People seem to be pretty understanding of the need to do so, which shouldn’t be surprising given how high inflation has been and for how long.

Drangir - August 16, 2025

Pity! Fortunately I’ve got quite some plastic to work on and hope to grab the Guards before 15th.

To the complainers: it’s a financial news from the get go. It’s transparency we don’t often get from modern international companies. And there will be politics in such articles, what did you expect? WA isn’t a lemonade stand.
(And miniature games often touch politics :3 From anti-corporate themes of cyberpunk games, pure satire of Warhammer to recreating ACTUAL wars in historic settings XD you can’t get less political than this)

Watching a bunch of “conservatives” freak out at a private business owner (what happened to job creator?) for a financial decision in response to a harmful government policy is pretty hilarious. It’s not WA’s job to carry water for the government’s choice just because you really like the president. So much for the “free market”.

The only case of TDS here is ignoring financial reality for the sake of a politician.

What are you talking about dude? You had awful inflation and constantly rising prices during biden. What kinda historical revisionism is this shit?

Javier - August 16, 2025

Anyone who doesn’t like politics in their plastic mini discussions is entirely free to ignore this post and not engage with the comments. Personally I’m glad Wargames Atlantic is being transparent about the circumstances surrounding their decision to increase prices. Real life politics have real life effects in the prices of the tiny soldiers we collect, anyone who doesn’t like being reminded of it is free to stop reading after the first few lines.

Jetsfan - August 16, 2025

It’s a shame politics has permeated every corner of our lives. I wouldn’t mind going back to the time when I didn’t know what the president was doing, saying, pardoning, or whatever. How nice that was right?

That aside the price increase seems fine and you guys have been hitting it out of the park. There are a bunch of sets on the release list I’m looking forward to. Keep up the great work y’all!

Bravo. Somebody has to tell it like it is. My Facebook feed is amazing right now with almost every UK Wargame company stopping shipments to the USA because nobody knows how any of this works. What a joke. I’m really impressed that WGA was able to bypass all their tariff issues by moving half their manufacturing to the UK so fast. Well done guys. Keep the plastic flowing.
