For those curious... some more Quar stuff... A blog with 15mm Quar tractors, buildings and battle reports... (looks like I had heard about Quar a while back and only thought it was something to do...
Also on preorder at Osprey:
@JTam well...aardvark is there... and "russian airship" so maybe you could combine them... and I want those 2 minutes I spent looking that up back... 🤕
@Grumpy Gnome One of the Air Ships crewed by aardvarks would be cool. I kind of want to / am kind of scared to see what "Aardvark Air Ship" is on Urban Dictionary.
@William Redford No one can argue with that logic. Deploy credit card.
@Grumpy Gnome Damn, both the airships look really cool. Cant really justify the $70 on either right now, and have no where to store them... and dont quite know what I would use them for... but want...
@Grumpy Gnome agreed. I have found 1/48th scale vehicles to be closer to the right size. The 1/56 scale kits are ridiculously small.
On preorder at Osprey: That central figure is amazing. Amoeba pants, PPS43, and tenashka. Very similar uniform to this female medic:
@Grumpy Gnome Cool link. Neat stuff. Thanks.
Thanks for the reading tip. In fact, there is no real consensus... I think that a 1/50th scale would be an excellent compromise (vehicles usable both with 28mm WW2 and 28-32mm SCI-FI minis). In ad...
The quirky, fun aspect appeals to this Gnome. I think they would look good with our Hagglerhorn Hollow buildings. And while they are not Victorian Science Fiction models per se, they may wor...
@JTam "DDDDaaaaaarrrr ANTS"!!!!!.
@Estoc not impossible, just difficult... and even vampires need a weak spot. They're only vulnerable on Turn 2 as they change fully; in Turn 1 of the change they are powerful, and in Turn 3 they ar...
@Davy Jones 100% with you on modern contractors... for "Division" reasons though 😎
I like the aesthetic of the war machines. Wouldn't hate it if those became available.
@Grumpy Gnome I never heard of them either. Probably not for me... But they are fun. Maybe a way to introduce kids to wargaming?
Aah! Aardvark trooper with bullpup! It's so obvious now! ;)
@Geoff Maybury Yeah, the bread bag is Quar and I would guess the shouldered firearm is a Royalist Quar.
Well thats a rum do acording to the "Facebook" page no ones right yet on our pics, wish they`d have the decency to give us a look in, the reason we all had so much problems, is they are Quars, at l...
Where or when did I say that the Osprey books were the end all be all of armor research? You're putting words in my mouth, and I don't appreciate it. What I did was assume that Osprey books about ...
@Hudson Adams Two things from my perspective, bearing in mind I am not an STL customer as I do not intend to get into 3d printing anytime soon. 1) While I think it will be financially good fo...
The more I look into this the more I like what I see. The metal sculpts are cool but the possibilities of a plastic kit just takes it to another level. The ease of kitbashing with plastic... flamet...
Personally I use either, though the 1/56 scale stuff is growing on me and so far WA's minis have worked great with the 1/56 kits I have and come off a little on the smallish side with 1/48 kits (wh...
@Pierre Lerdou-Udoy No problem Brother. I have a deep interest in all of WW2. But the two areas I focus on most is the Eastern Front and the Pacific theater. ...
@H M I don't mean to be rude or offenseive but all that coming from the man who thought the alpha and omega of forgien armor research was Osprey books till this thread,😆. A lot of the pics I...
@JTam Depends, but I think if we are talking actual gamers I would say its really around 2+ on average (skirmish maybe king but a lot of people build shelf armies that go beyond one box lists, not ...
I am going to buy these. I do not know the setting but they look so good.
There's a big thread on this forum arguing the merits of 1/56 vs 1/48 or 1/50th for 28mm. Suffice it to say I am firmly in the 1/48 / 1/50th camp. There's a big gap/need for 1/50th gaming models ...
To JTam : A small question, a little personal perhaps... Where does your interest in Finnish militaria come from ?
Very funny, it looks like Rammstein !!! I didn't knew Afri'kola : modern Pervitin ? What is good for us, Basques, is that our solar cross (lauburu) is still usable... That's a fact : in Asia, the...
@Brian Van De Walker How many boxes of one particular WGA Box do you think the average customer buys? I doubt many buy more than one or two particular boxes, (with the exception of so...
I prefer 1/48 scale too. I find 1/48 vehicles are perfect for the 28mm minis (slightly bulky, a little bit exagerated), and they are closer to the real man-machine size difference on the photos. ...
@Grumpy Gnome @William Redford Never heard of them ,like your selves so i ordered the $30 /FREE Book of 108 pages colour through out. It`s called "This Quars War", and guys it`s great, can`t wait t...
I've been aware of the Quar for a fair while but never bought any (tho tempted) but in plastic and easily available from WGA i shall be having some
Grumpy Gnome is right. He talks about what you call "common sense" (in French, we say GOOD sense, "bon sens"), as the question of the price of things risks to become more and more important... Due...
@Hudson Adams as I have commented on Facebook, that Dux sculpt looks amazing.
@Grumpy Gnome Yeah... the wierdness of them has me hooked. Defintely thinking of some uses to justify getting them.
Thirty dollars for 22 human sized miniatures wouldn't be too bad. But these are one piece bugs and birds and such.
@Brian Van De Walker When I think of inexpensive, I think of less than a Euro/Dollar a figure, depending of course on the quality of the figures. This Mantic offering is not a bad price per f...
@William Redford From my quick research today I would say that generally the more Napoleonic looking uniforms are from the nations that are still conservatively Royalist while the more modern,...
@Grumpy Gnome The more I look at these the more I waiver between mole people and Ant-eaters. The are growing on me. Maybe satisfy that itch but buying one of the heavy weapon teams and some ...
@Caratacus not yet ready to tease anything there but we'll be doing a few things on Atlantic Digital for Blood Oaths that should make people happy.
@Vitor Soares if you want them 25mm you could always scale them down! ;-)
I am not normally into anthropomorphic races but these Quar for some reason really have caught my attention. There is something just compellingly quirky about them. Mrs. GG is not really con...
I think you fail to appreciate how universal most elements of armor actually are, and how rare it is for any particular element to be associated with a single culture. -But- what we can say (or at ...
@William Redford Steampunk Ant eaters are good, I could see them in a pulp and VSF game as well. might get them for that one disel punk fantasy RPG I own as proxy ratmen.
@Brian Van De Walker I had never heard of them either... but its not really my genre. Still they are kind of cool, so I may get a box. Maybe I can use them for aliens in Starwars RPG or Starfinder....
@Grumpy Gnome Actually it depends more on what you buy and where, compared to GW they are rather cheap. Edite: or they where at least, wow I am guessing England needs some postal reforms.
