I've assembled two boxes, and kit-bashed another with the WA Roman infantry in mail. These are incredibly versatile and also mix well with Gripping Beast minis. Two thumbs up!

So, are we to understand that WA has stopped plans for all previously announced plastic kits, with no more releases until they attract sufficent Vox Populi votes/cash?
@Ten Fingered Jack I feel the same way about the Merovingian Franks. Been waiting for over a year for this kit.
@Grumpy Gnome agreed. I have found 1/48th scale vehicles to be closer to the right size. The 1/56 scale kits are ridiculously small.
For opponents, I have two boxes of Warlord Games blitzkrieg Germans to paint. They're nicely sculpted, but somewhat smaller in size and limited with poses. Having just received a box of WA's ...
The kneeling figure with the VB mortar is is also Crusader.
I'm just about finished with painting up my second box of Tirailleurs depicting early war (France 1940) units. These are truly amazing miniatures, with so many possibilities for variation in poses a...
Here is another look.
Here are my first two conversions. It was relatively easy to cut off the left arms, do a little filing, and glue the Goth archer arms onto these two Irish Warriors.
@Mark Dewis I used DAP quick dry acrylic caulk that comes in a squeezable tube (similar consistency to tooth paste). Available at any hardware store here in the USA.
Just purchased another box of Irish Warriors (I've lost count on how many of these boxes I've built), and another box of Goths so I can get this conversion project under way. I will post pics of th...
Another great addition to this range. Please don't let this releae get in the way of the Franks, though. I really need those now! 😄
I've reported on this forum before that WA and GB plastic dark ages figures are wonderfully interchagable, allowing for lots of creative possibilities. This photo of a Goth chieftain (as yet unpain...
For anyone considering purchase of the Dark Age Irish Warriors box, this review offers a very thorough look as well as a close up comparison with Gripping Beast plastic figures. You'll see the rang...
I am in need of archers for my Welsh and Scots warbands (for Saga). So, my plan is to affix the bows, bow arms and quivers from the Goth box on suitable figures from the Dark Age Irish box. Anyone ...
@Brian Van De Walker I live in the states, too.
I have several boxes of French infantry that I am using to create rifle squads for Bolt Action. The problem is that I have need for only a 2 officers. What to do with all the rest? There is 1 offic...
@BS Kitbasher both companies offer high quality miniatures. I have fielded a Byzantine army based entirely on Fireforge and am very pleased. Very durable, just like WA, but generally with far fewer...
Can anyone help me identify what these objects are? They both are on the Late Romans sprue.
@JTam they are a very close match, in my opinion. I have combined Gripping Beast plastic Dark Age cavalry and foot figures with the WA 'Irish Warriors' with great success. Heads, arms, ...
This is why I always use terms like Visigoths and Ostrogoths!! ☺️
I'm very pleased with this box. There are so many options to choose ... heads, weapons, and poses, especially when you kit bash with the Late Romans and Gripping Beast dark age figures). My first b...
Will there be Japanese in greatcoats to follow?
These are my completed ballistas. I used WA bodies with Gripping Beast heads to match the rest of my Roman units.
I neglected to mention that the Gripping Beast Picts do provide one crossbow on each sprue. That's a total of 5 per box. I know some of us might use the heavy spears in these boxes as javelin...
In case you might have missed it, Gripping Beast has now released 2 more boxes of 28mm plastic dark ages figures: Welsh and Picts. Before anyone gets too excited, be advised that the spues are iden...
Whatever pressure we can put on Russia is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, V&V Miniatures, which is based in Ukraine, has shut down due to the Russian invasion.
@Steffen Seitter yes, and they'll also be useful for building a Visigoth army
Looking forward to Franks, and would also love to see Sasanids, Bulgarians, Dark Age cavalry.... Irish/Scots, and Byzantine Romans
How about offering a second box in greatcoats with papakha caps? If you made this kit without any other cap options, you could then either include an extra 2 figures or have a maxim gun included.&n...
@Simon Boulton definitely that's what I plan to do: Roman auxiliaries
Generic horses, with separate releases for various historical era cavalry (ancient, dark ages, etc). You could then include the saddles with the riders.
How about cavalry for Russo-Japanese War? Cossacks could be used for WW1 as well
I switched to 1/48th scale after assemling a miniscule Warlord Games bren carrier -- and seeing other examples of 1/56th scale models (which are really scaled to maybe 22-23mm size). Unfortunately,...
I vote for Roman legionaries from the late republic under Julius Caesar, Pompey, Mark Antony, etc. Warlord Games are the only maker of plastic figures for this eta, and are of low quality.
@Brian Van De Walker in the 1st Boer War (1880-81), the British were still wearing the Zulu War era red coats, blue trousers and white pith helmets. See image below of the Battle of Majuba Hill, wh...
What about mid-century European wars? There are the Italian Wars of Independence (esp. 1859), Austro-Prussian(1866) and Franco-Prussian (187l) Wars?
@Cole Lassell the British WW1 set is in the pipeline. What other additions to existing releases take priority?
I purchased 2 of these ballistas from a seller on Etsy and plan to create crews from the Wargames Atlantic Roman box. Anyone else use 3D printed models? I've heard they're more fragile than the typ...
@Yronimos Whateley Warlord Games are great at marketing, but quality of miniatures is variable. Some are fine, others are awful.
That soldier in the middle could be North African or mixed race mulatto, but also keep in mind that the French referred to all Sub- Saharan Afican troops from their colonies as 'Senegalese.'
Glad to hear that you are working this out. I am very eager to buy your Italian WW2 boxes as I need Breda machine gun crews to replace the 28mm Warlord Games 'Bolt Action' crews that I wasted money...
I have always been interested in the Eastern Front, so I'd love to see Austro-Hungarian, Serb, and Russian troops.
Since I play Saga, a box of 16 would be ideal. This should include 8 in mail and 8 without mail, and all figures should have javelins as an option.
