Siberia-miniatures command figures. I'm just waiting upon my Polish eagle! Next up... Lithuanian Infantry!
Siberia-miniatures 28mm Poles. They really go well with the WA figures. More or less the same scale. I even gave two figures a WA head!
Officer's body taken from WA WW1 French (arms German). Map case is a spare bit from Bolt Action Germans. Adrian helmets also taken from WA WW1 French.
Some NCOs & two chauchat light machine gunners. The chauchats taken from WA WW1 French.
My interest in early 20th century history doesn't finish on 11th November 1918. The current projects that I am engaged with are some of the conflicts fought after the aformentioned date. He...
Seriously, has anyone figured out the hole in that shield? I noticed the hole was even mentioned in the On Table Top/Beast of War video that WGA posted on the main site. Is it just a failed attem...
@JTam It's a top book! I just wish it went upto 1923.
To start here's a piece of scatter terrain for industrial/sci-fi gaming. PROJECT: Poo bag rolls ---> stack of pipes scatter terrain TIME: 10-20 minutes (depending on how long it takes the glue...
So over the years, I'm sure we've all discovered various tips and tricks to help out our hobby. I've found that sometimes stuff we would think of as trash is often incredibly useful. So...
@Slow Painter That is a CLEAN paint job - nice!
Yes, it is looking very likely to be WW2 Polish Cavalry. If I was going to buy WW2 Cavalry, I would prefer them to be dismounted rather than mounted but with my WW1 Eastern front head on...
I have a box of Cannon fodder and will get a box of the female cannon fodder. My plan for these? I am going to run a one-off Starwars Edge of The Empire adventure. If it goes well, maybe conv...

@Yronimos Whateley Some great ideas there. That would be a fun game/campaign. Are you familiar with 7TV game from Crooked Dice? It kind of captures the feel you are going for.&n...
That volume does have material relevant to WW1 German cavalry:
@Red Bee Man I loved that show.
Additional information on WW1 Cossack Cavalry: Portrayal of a Cosaack in the Russian Civil War: From "Uniforms of World War 1" by Jonathan North.
Found this about Cossack horse furniture: The sneak peak horse furniture has the bedroll up front and what appears to be a saddle bag to the aft. I don't this was an uncommon configurati...
@Grumpy Gnome exactly why I used those helmets. Love me some Chaos Dwarves
My 8 year old is learning to paint, but isn't feeling all that confident yet. Wondering who else has a kid who paints and wants to show off their work? I'll post some of what she's worked on when s...
@Christopher Tyrer If you mean this Encyclopedia of WW1 Uniforms let me save you a trip to the attic. I looked through it last night and there's nothing on Poles in the post WW1 period.&n...
@JTam I think that you maybe closer to the ball park than me. Just did a little research via Google 8 we can rule out German uhlans too.
Ive been thinking of adding Americans to the setting. I think I'd go Scifi Old West. Think Firefly, Westworld, Beebop, Fallout New Vegas, Dark tower, and maybe even a smidge of Brave Star. Not sure...
Battlestar Galactica seems like it could be a fun idea - I bet that Stargrave rules would be perfect for some skirmishing in that setting, and the Iron Core Isenkern figures seem to me like a "clos...
@Yronimos Whateley I think you might be onto something there!
First off - great catch on the Warring States Chinese being the set behind the Great Ribbon Mystery - hats off to everyone who called that one early! I thought that the Chinese had been ruled...
These: Plus female Cannon Fodder = Awesome Space Opera Adventure.
@Dan Morgan Yes, it's a pricey set. I grabbed a single sprue at a decent price during one of their sprue sales.
I am using my copy of the osprey MAA Armies of the Russo-Polish war 1919-21. I may also dig my copy of an encyclopaedia of WW1 uniforms which I have somewhere in my attic. The good th...
@JTam I don't think so. I have a book called The Bear Went Over the Mountain. Which is a book of translated military encounters produced by the Soviet Frunz Academy.
Yeah, that's some good kitbashing.
If you want to try something different go with WWII French. Pretty much the same uniform but they used a shade of brown instead of the horizon blue.
@JTam Interesting but I'm not that keen on paying the Warlord tax.
@Christopher Tyrer What references are you using? I too am going back and forth on the uniform. The early gray/green may win out as I understand many troops ended the war still wearin...
These look promising. I presume some Russian troops are in the works.
@Christopher Tyrer I'm not sure Cossacks were big on the bedroll at the front of the saddle. A lot of other cavalry did have the forward bedroll: https://wargamesatlantic.com/community/xen...
@JTam I honestly haven't made my mind up yet. To tell you the truth, my first thought was the late war khaki uniform but the idea of basing the figures on the early war army with all of their...
Update as of 11 MAR 22:
@Grumpy Gnome Nice. Yup, that would work. Maybe steal a doggo from the WGA German Sentry kit?
@Christopher Tyrer Awesome project. I want to try the same thing. I got a test frame of WGA Germans from Ebay that arrived yesterday. Thanks for the source of appropriate Polish he...
I have got some Polish heads from Siberian Miniatures. My order got shipped just before it all kick off in Ukraine & I received it this week. I'm making my Polish Infantry using th...
@JTam I'll go with Cossacks.
Sneak Peak - 11 MAR 22 Ho*y Cr*p. Is that some sort of 20th Century plastic cavalry? Is it finally happening? Is the rider holding a lance?
We've had our first shot of the painted Japanese from Jason Frowde at Painting Knights. More to come next week!
What are you planning to do with these kits? I'm going to plus up my Rogue Trader era Necromunda Regiment. Add plasticard shoulder pads and a little disk on the left breast and you're at a 8...
I neglected to mention that the Gripping Beast Picts do provide one crossbow on each sprue. That's a total of 5 per box. I know some of us might use the heavy spears in these boxes as javelin...
Anyone else hyped for the upcoming female Cannon Fodder? Love this. For those not hip with modern AK gun running: The charging handle on an AK/AKM/AK-74 is on the right s...
