Who Else Should Make Hard Plastic Sets?

    I wonder if hooking up with a popular rules set might also work, as a lot of people did with the "Friends of Gaslands" thing.  The creators of Gaslands never put out their own line of cars, weapons, or terrain, but mini companies would work out a deal with them and could use the Gaslands name for their own minis, weapons, and terrain.

    One of my favorite rules creators is Nordic Weasel Games, makers of Five Parsecs from Home (Sci-Fi), Five Leagues from the Borderlands (Fantasy), Five Men from Normandy (WWII), Chrome Hammer (Cyberpunk), Weasel-Tech (Mecha) and some others.  They're all minis-agnostic, but I wonder if becoming the "Official Minis of Nordic Weasel" might work?  Kinda like how Mountain Dew is the "official" drink of e-sports or Ford is the "official" truck of the Dallas Cowboys?  Both Five Parsecs and Five Leagues have been picked up by Modiphius Games

    Wargames Atlantic already has a ton of boxes that would work with Nordic Weasel's games; plenty of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and historical that would work great with low and dark fantasy (my preferred brand of fantasy).  Slapping a "Great with Five Parsecs/Leagues!" blurb on your boxes, and perhaps Modiphius adding a "Get your Five Parsecs minis from Wargames Atlantic!" could be great cross-promotion for both.

     

    Edit: Then, again...I believe Death Fields is going to have its own rules set, so they might not want to explicitly promote those minis for a different game...

    @Javier Del Villar I'd kill -- KILL -- for plastic Privateer Press Rhulics.  Those dwarves and their Warjacks are some of my favorite miniatures ever.  I just don't think Warmachine is popular enough these days, and Privateer will always prioritize the major factions over the Mercs, so I know I'll never see them.  Plastic Warjacks would be this kitbasher/converter's dream!

    Great ideas.  

    People like official minis, even for more or less mini agnostic games.  

    Even something loose like the Victrix faction bundles for Clash of Spears would be cool.

    Ramshackle Games do some nice Post Apocalyptic stuff, their Dwarven bikers are really nice kits as well.

    That spanish company does really deserve a conversion to hard plastic instead of resin. Take a look at their Dwarf fantasy range, so old school, so you-can-only-love-them-at-first-sight.. Just explore their website..

     

    In fact so much companies -especially some very obscure ones, only available when roaming on etsy for instance- do deserve a hard plastic conversion of their ranges. And since plastic is always friendly - remember about Don't Panic in big juicy solid plastic letters I bet, it is time for some general improvement.

    Otherwise WGA should build up a monopoly on high Quality Plasic Sets and throw Victrix from the Throne.

    Anyone using CAD to sculpt can move to hard plastic relatively easily. The sculptors that still do it by hand may not be able to convert as easily - my guess is that Hasslefree, Copplestone and Foundry are not likely to go there. (Copplestone is my pick for "I want these in plastic!")

    You need the customer base, talent, and insane output of the Perrys to really make a go of it if you're still sculpting 3 ups by hand.

    I would love if Catalyst did a few hard plastic Omnimechs. Their newer plastics are really nice, and they've done a few "premium" miniatures with other companies recently, but having a small single sprue Firemoth or Masakari with different pod options could be amazing for WYSIWYG.

    I hate working with resin.

    Metal is okay in single piece minis.

    Hard plastic is easiest to work with, and cost effective (if the sales numbers are large enough to justify the set up costs).

    A partnership with Victoria or Anvil Industries with their stuff in WGA quality and price points would be fantastic - to me.

    I'm kinda glad I don't have a 3D printer.  My house would be absolutely ROTTEN with tiny gray plastic people...

    Same here my friend, wife forbade me to buy one years ago ... 😁 and since I have got some problems with resin fumes while paying a visit to a friend who does own one in his garage, I think I will never got one.

    I am not a big fan of resin models: okay they are cheap -if one does own a 3d printer set or if one can afford 3rd party printing services, including taxes and posting fees- and lovely -some ships for 28mm models are really appealing to me, but converting them is a bit problematic to my mind. 

    So I do think Bob Naismith range -especially the civilians and astroport personnel- could be quite a lovely addition to WGA Scifi ranges.

    I'd love Turnip 28 sprues. I get that kitbashing is kind of the heart of the game, but some basic bits and thematic prices on sprue would be great for folks that want to get into the game that might not have a ton of free time to mod out a force to try a game.
