@JTam "1. Way too much dice rolling. Example - 20 "Barbarians" attack 9 Romans. On the charge the Barbarians roll SIXTY dice. The Romans have a sword and shield and ca...
If I was to do Imperial Rome I think I would try Infamy! Infamy! By Toofatlardies. I tend to like their game design concepts.
Sidenote: Warlord is having a really nice sale on the SPQR starter box as we speak.
@Caratacus My dive into the SPQR (1st edition) rules was superficial so I could be completely wrong. But from memory my problems were this: 1. Way too much dice rolling.&...
So we had this linked in the thread on Dakka. https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-atlantic-digital-irish-chieftain-256822 I'm not the target audience for the stl files so won't be p...
I just hope the box comes out before christmas, even though that probably wont happen
For me, it's Hellenistzic and Late Antiquity.
Some good kitbashed conversions on this blog, mixing genres to create his own unique setting. Really great imagination. https://rollaone.com/2019/11/11/border-skirmish-at-hammering-mutants-who-wou...
I know... I thought there would be more excitement about the sprue that was teased. Even Dakkadakka was more quiet about it than I expected.
I saw the Titan Forge stall at Spiel in Essen the last couple of years. They have a bunch of cool stuff that they have not made available for retail. In particular I was fascinated by a fantasy A...
I am not currently playing any of the ancient periods but have interest in all of them to varying degrees. I currently have quite a few Hellenistic minis, both Greek and Persian but I also ha...
Ready for tooling WW1 Brits and no one has posted here yet? Blimey!
@William Redford That's a nice take on "South American" Amazons.
Looks good... I like your work... 👍 A modern build-from-scratch-version of Marks Hover-STUG III... that he never realized... I would like to see more... 😬
I play from the Hellenic Period to the Late Antiquity, but we could only choose one 😁 I have armies for all those ages, in various stages of completion. As rules, I use SAGA, Hail Caesar, D...
Here is a link to the Amazon infantry picture. Amazon infantry
@JTam Titan Forge has a similar line. There was a kickstarter, but I dont think they have released everything retail as there are only a couple of the units on their store page https://titan-forge...
Because my current Ancients collection is mainly made up of Britons and Imperial Romans and the Britons are easily my favourite historical faction of them all (if you hadn't guessed by my faction n...
@JTam Logically the M113 wasn't intended for a conventional war, following how they tought a future war had to be fought, it was intended as a sort of armoured "taxi" for carring an infantry ...
Shield Wolf has some new Ogres coming out of the last Kickstarter that look the part:
Late Bronze Age - Specifically the Trojan War. Have started collecting minis to play Warhammer Historical Battle or Of Gods and Mortals. Not investing heavily yet as I hope the WGA Troj...
I mostly play fantasy and fantasy RPG's so my answer is a combination of none and all. I have been more and more interested in Indian settings or themes in RPG's... There is an excellent setting ca...
@William Redford well, leaving out black powder was a legitmate design choice by the author, but I agree it would have made the kit more useful to have had some on the sprue. At least North ...
A further point with flintlocks is that the guns, especially the pistols, were handcrafted by gunsmiths and not mass produced until around 1800. Design and decoration varied a great deal, too.
Because of the RPG Pendragon I do collect some 6th century stuff. My interests are more medieval and later though.
@Patrick Salvail Outstanding work. Looks a bit like a Puma... Which makes sense.
@Geoff Maybury Fascinating detail. Is that screw plug on the Centurian?
The aluminum armor melting isn't actually a big deal. Hear me out. Pound for pound aluminum armor is generally stronger than steel. The M113 had armor equivalent to any APC...
Greetings, I’m Pat and I’ve been collected and painting figurines since 1987. I’ve started with GW stuff (first with their plastic Rogue Trader Space Marines ) and ...
I wonder which Periods of Antiquity you folks do play? Because the Poll limit you to only one possible answer, choose your favorite Period and comment which further Periods you also play.
@Joshua Qualtieri I would certainly be in the market for a couple of 28mm Kites. They are part of the charm of the world you have created. And it looks like a bunch of my 1/43 WW2...
@Joshua Qualtieri Yes, that is a commonly tragic turn of events it seems. Well, perhaps this forum space may work for you as a back up to Discord and Facebook?
@Joshua Qualtieri I like the mix of hats covering their eyes that you have created, very pleased with the heads in caps on the sprue. But hatless heads being available is a great idea as well....
There was going to be a bare head... with eyes!... on the sprue but we ran out of room. I'll release that through zombiesmith as one of the bits you can modify the plastics with. When they have ha...
It was used less and less as time went by. Folks went to facebook or discord, etc. I'm tempted to restart a forum.
I do have a 6mm kite and already and two 15mm kites that I haven't released, but will soon. One of those wouldn't be too hard in 28mm as a resin print I could sell. One of the folks in my gaming gr...
@Grumpy Gnome When they have eyes they remind me of the Skeksis.
@Grumpy Gnome Survivalist figures in the crooked dice range, match this brilliant program , thank you my friend for bringing back more fond memories.
I think the Quar are often sculpted with hats obscuring their eyes... which is both good and bad. The good, it makes painting easier. The bad, they lose a bit of personality. It does seem a consist...
@Steffen Seitter Better yet, I hope Warlord makes some for both standard and Epic Hail Caesar.
As soon as I saw these I thought 'Woodies!' Not that far from where I live there is a reconstructed 17th Century village called Little Woodham, and one aspect of the volunteers' own little...
@Alessio De Carolis The book actually in graphic detail gives the events of a destroyed M113 that loses all crew + most troops in a mine incident. The pictures of the complete front hul...
@Geoff Maybury@JTam When you two were talking about “The Last Train” I was reminded of the classic post-apoc British TV series... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36mN5kmB3qA&...
@Mark Dewis true. I just don't have much in that genre. I have some wss guns, and some Napoleonic ones. Older ones I have ECW, the conquistadors and Perry mercs. The raise the black pirates sh...
I remember reading about Sheridan's problems, expecially its vulnerability to mines, and how some literally melted (!) when on fire. Another problem was the low ROF of the main gun, more than 90 s ...
@Mark Dewis You're right, if you think about the Brown Bess musket, it was in british service for about a century, in its versions, being replaced only when arrived the newer rifled muskets and the...
@Joshua Qualtieri What became of the Quar Invasion forum? Did you decide to migrate that forum community to Facebook?
@Joshua Qualtieri Do you intend to make aircraft as well as the new tractors for 28mm? If yo, have you considered airships as well as the smaller aerocraft like the Kite? Have y...
