Honestly I'd just go for it if you like the models, scale and setting be damned. You'd be suprised what a healthy dose of bits and wires can do to any kind of model to make it look sci-fi.

Good way to incorporate weapons to minis is to keep handles as they are and carefully exchange the weapons - it works great for most of the WA minis and with quar you may be lenient with proportion...
