I plan to use them as pirates in Stargrave, so for faceless mooks this level of detail is fine.

Is the image working for others? It looks fine to me, but I got a message saying it was broken.
@Ben Saunders Still showing as broken to me? Anyone else?
Time to Make the Plastic!
Sorry, it's broken to me too
Ok, let's try again. Is this working?
@Ben Saunders Very nice! The Citadel Contrast or AP Speedpaints work well with that technique too.
@Hudson Adams Yep first looks broken to me too, second one shows up.
@Stilton Disco I've not tried those yet. I did use one or two Citadel paints, but these are mostly done with craft paints.
@Ben Saunders they're kind of midway between glazes and washes. Because they're rather more translucent and pull away from raised areas, they work well on darker base colours that have been highlighted like this.
Army Painter are doing their own versions called Speedpaints, which seem to work a bit better and will be cheaper than contrast, if you want to give some a go.
