  This is fantastic!  

  Makes me think of that old H.G. Wells movie, "Things to Come" (1936), which has as its premise that a world war starts in the (then) near-future of 1940, and lasts until a post-apocalyptic 1970s, when the people have bombed and gassed each other back to the Dark Ages, only to suffer a global plague ("The Wandering Sickness", which is not quite a 1930s zombie apocalypse scenario), until they can rebuild into a utopian future....

  These poor French guys, I think, have spent far too long on the front lines of exactly that sort of war!
