@Caratacus Well, to be fair I like the thought of using the spears that come with the kit as harpoons/javlins. (I say harpoon as it looks to me like there is some kind of rope wrapped around them.)...

Happy birthday! :)
Happy birthday mate! Have a great day!
Hi all taking a couple of days off, its my 68th today, so I`m chilling out with Eileen and the girls, Tia, Narla and Dinky. Don`t feel any different, no wiser, no older, just the same nutty me. I`v...
Nice looking Lizardmen you have there, good use of Kairic Acolyte shields to create something different. What game do you plan to use them in? I particularly like the spears you have chosen for th...
Late to comment, but nice to see the old WGF Numidians getting some love. Very handy torsos those. Never much liked the Amazons, though. I've struggled to find much use at all for that box.
@Forrest Wentworth there is a bump that protrudes from the the back of the hip of one the armored goblins in one piece. The shield goes there, hanging form the hip.
@Blutze I have! But honestly my little project is something of a conscious effort to get away from GW Meso-American influences. It's the biggest reason I took the shields from the Kairic Acolyte ki...
I agree, it is a great ideia to get more opponents for my Portuguese.
@JTam posted a series on Magellan in the Conquistador inspiration thread. How about some other adversaries that could verse the Conquistadors. Indonesia is made up of many different tribes with ma...
and so for ranged support harpoons are the only answer Have you heard of our lord and savior P'toohee? I got 60-odd of the 5th edition archers for 20€ and a ~1000pt army of 6th/7th edition ...
@Mark Dewis did you ever see the original "the Fog" with Jamie Lee Curtis? they had a zombie/ghost pirate crew. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nOZwnivtLbc it was mentione...
And yes, I know there are plenty of touch-ups to do. It's just it had been so long since i had last said anything about them (because they have been in various stages of unfinished for the longest ...
@JTam yeah was definitely referring to Magellan. The battle didn't really convey the natives numbering in the 1000's. I went back and rewatched it and while they did outnumber the crew, it did...
Do you hear the earth tremble at sound of clawed feet upon the earth? Do you see the clouds of dust kicked up by the swish of tails? Tremble then, human, at the coming of the Great Lizard Horde of...
@William Redford Reference the battle. You think it paints Magellan in a bad light? Or the natives? It certainly doesn't paint a bad light on the natives. They win. It do...
@William Redford Great stuff. Very informative on the Conquistador helmet. Thanks for posting the painting. I had a feeling the Conquistador helmet might have...
Big brush and craft brand acrylic does me just fine for undercoat. Never liked spray cans much.
Wow, nicely done! Great conversions and paint jobs! Definitely need to snag me some halflings, now...
@JTam @Blutze I watched it last night on Prime. overall I liked it. It was only 6 episodes so I binged it in one go. I was surprised when the Chief told Magellan to enter his house, he said "masuk"...
@JTam As far as size. Anno Domini and hot and dangerous are slightly different scale. Anno Domini is 28mm and on the smaller more realistic side of 28mm. Hot and dangerous is 32mm. Some of the...
@JTam On their FB page someone posted this:"If You wonder about helmet it is based on Juan de Borgoña paintings made in 1514 showing conquest of Oran. Cortez started his conqe...
Found an example of a Hot and Dangerous female Landsknecht painted up on Facebook: For that matter the Hot and Dangerous "Anno Domini" and "Conquistador" model aren't terrible fits for an La...
Hmm. Guess it makes sense for such a large unit to have them all with shields, pikes or shouldered ranged weapons, especially in a nominally historical kit. What I'm looking for is one of the faux-...
The tempting bit about that line is the identical 54mm variants. Because there are other things that can be... enlarged. But they are in resin, and the only images I can find is renders which never...
Here's a nice one: Looks like a great fit with the WGA kit: https://www.wargamerus.com/product/atotoztli-the-aztec-warrior-hd28-31/396 or https://www.nobleknight.com/P/2147875018/Atotoz...
Picked this up at Ye Olde Hobby Lobby today. It's a hollow book that is held closed via a magnet. This week it's 50% off "table decor" so I think this was about $11.00. Glu...
Not just your opinion..... Your minis look great!
Popped up in my feed today: (Someone does 6 minute abs).
@Steven StGeorges I was privileged to visit the Musée de l'Armée at the Invalides in Paris in the long, long ago as well. Indeed, back in the 35mm film days. Marsha...
Yeah, these are from the Perry Mercenary box! I had one around but totally forgot about it ... Some will need small cuts and/or Greenstuff to fill in the gaps, otherwise they look pretty g...
@András Csaba Horváth Are those perry arms? I used the Warlord ones for the same thing, But the Perry arms look real good, better than the Warlord ones.
@JTam Thanks mate I was expecting to find out a lot more digital pictures from various european military museums: like the Musée de l'Armée at the Invalides in Paris, the Mus&...
@Blutze No, The resting pike or greatsword right arms have a shared empty hand left that could be used. I did make a duelist with a dagger left arm (frostgrave).
Did you build any swordsmen with empty left hands (DoW duelists without any additional wargear, or variety for some free company) from the conquistador bodies? It looks like they are all leading wi...
Not sure about this gesso stuff. I've heard about it, but most of what I heard makes it seem a little weird and unintuitive, and nothing really struck me as an actual advantage. As for the price, a...
After that additional batch of natives showed on the dunes (just before the first, last and only musket "volley"), there was no macro information anymore. No wide shots of the sailors getting swarm...
While I support a zombification sprue, regular zombie kits do provide a slew of spare heads and arms. My original GW zombie box that was bought to make Blood Bowl figures in the late 90's continued...
@JTam This is a known effect. Some US accents are supposedly closer to 18thC English ones than modern English ones are. Although, as with here in Australia, there's a melting pot effect from the v...

@William Redford I have been to Maryland, and I liked it. Living in Portugal is very nice, except in what our hobby is concerned. If you are curious, I am originally from the Alentejo region, ...
@JTam The shift is gradual, and Brazil is a country that received influences from other European languages, like italian, that have no African or Asian influences, so they stayed as they were as ph...
@Steven StGeorges obrigado :)I normally use spraycans as primer and zenithal, but my wife has a ton of gesso (art teacher), so I might give ir a try.
@William Redford you might have to wait for September, but they are on their way :) Fell free to use my sugestions, I feel flattered and relieved I'm not that crazy.
Project coming together. Cards arrived: Trunk, rulebook, cards, and dice:
@Vitor Soares Fascinating. Thank You. Brazilian Portuguese being closer to old Portuguese is at first counter intuitive. One would think the "colony" would diverge more. Althou...
@Blutze I always find it fascinating how two people can watch the exact same thing and see completely opposite things. I thought the battle looked right. There were some Spanish and o...
