@Yronimos Whateley So more like Aly Morrison's C36 Hobgobelins mixing various elements from Far-eastern countries -Mongolia and Cathay?
@JTam Such models could be adapted to any setting thanks to ... WGA upgrade sprues... 😁
@Steven StGeorges You know they're good when they get a nickname like that. https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2017/08/12/reiters-in-french-service/ (The "caracole" - method of delivering vol...
@William Redford Thirty six or so Pistoliers romping around the battlefield (harassing, misdirecting, getting in opportunistic flank and rear charges) would be awesome.
The Dark or the Devil's Riders as we French used to call them during the Wars of Religion could be a nice addition to any historical AND fantasy army. A MUST-HAVE.
https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2017/03/31/24376/amp/ (Reiter pistol left. Note the how the pistol can be reversed used as a club.) https://mindhost.tumblr.com/post/126333720067/a...
@William Redford Try any second-hand websites -depending where do you live. I managed to buy a couple of Kharodran Arkanaut Ironclad NOS for 80$CAN each instead of 160 each but they ar...
To think of this race feral or Full Blood in combat imagine 8-9ft gaint with the speed of a cheeta gliding on scates. D20 system they would be total death at close range and those Lances fire a pul...
@Estoc We are trying all ways, sadly it could be my lake of computer skills.😕
@JTam Hi guys, strugling to get these eight pages, I`ve got them on a PDF and it looks like its going to be a swine to do. I`d say that Frank Reischman and myself have the same one of us mus...
@Stephen Sutton I agree with you. Which is probably why I don't generally get excited about dwarves. Either they look like dwarves and there are already a ton of them out there... or they don'...
I think if you stray too far away from traditional viking-style dwarves then they're not really dwarves any longer, and they become "what if X-but short?", which is gimmicky and likely to appeal to...
This would easily be a 3 box purchase from me... definitely need some pistoliers.
First thing first, never played a wargame... yet... but what I am looking for in games is that they aren't overly complex, that is as close to 1:1 and have some story/aesthetic. I can forgo 1:1 wh...
Well, I am currently very interested in Pike and Shot warfare and they would certainly be great for an Conquistador themed Roguetrader Warband I am planning
honestly, i would hope that the game focuses on slightly smaller forces. platoon sized forces which the minimum sized force for can be built using a single box, and a large army would use two boxes...
@Steven StGeorges Strange. The link works for me. Not sure what is happening there. It's the "Reiter" thread I just started. It's at the top of the "Latest Topics." ...
@JTam Err... thanks for the link .. but
@William Redford That painted horse though..... Also, speaking of Pistoliers: https://wargamesatlantic.com/community/xenforum/topic/65470/reiter-aka-schwarzreiter I ran a lot of...
@JTam Mordheim transposed to Lustria? Thanks for the hint JT, downloading everything at the moment ... will take a look later. 👌
@William Redford My Knights were a bit older than the models you played.. I succeeded my Sanity Check when the 4th ed Reikguard was released ... cause they were very nice models, like...
@Steven StGeorges I remember that diorama... I also remember the white dwarf that had the old metal pistoliers fighting the lizard men as well. It really was a great theme... and got me to buy...
@JTam I did have 25 or so reiksguard foot knights in metal... and while my other infantry came with 20mm square bases, they came with 25mm square bases. They were not that much larger than th...
@Steven StGeorges I hadn't heard of the "feral ones" so went on a quick Google safari. And it looks like the Shadowkesh were plastic:
"Panzergrenadier Versus US Armored Infantryman - European Theater of Operations 1944" by Steven J. Zaloga. This is another book in the Osprey "Combat" series so follows the same format as covere...
@Hudson Adams Reiter would be great. https://wargamesatlantic.com/community/xenforum/topic/65470/reiter-aka-schwarzreiter
The Reiter or Schwarzreiter (Black Riders) were a specialized cavalry type that fought across Europe from the 16th to 17th century. Wearing 3/4 blackened armour and equipped with multiple pis...
@Steven StGeorges Nice! My box of WGA Conquistadors is destined to brave the dangers of Lustria. If you Google "Mordheim Lustria" there's pretty much all the resources online you ne...
@JTam I even quit playing an Empire army -1990 I think, the sole soldiers I still have are the 4043 Mounted Knights -the Imperial Guard back then- with the Imperial General (the famous one ...
@JTam Indeed a Pony version of Sleipnir could be a good idea...
@William Redford OK. So there is evidently two rough sizes of Warhammer Empire miniatures. The beautiful early metals and these plastics are roughly the same size. The 6th Edit...
@Steven StGeorges I don't think the Einherjars would be much into cavalry. Vikings were more "dragoons" if you will. But if they did..... 8 legged horses? Fast...
@Steven StGeorges the one musket I assembled wasn't as hard to find the corresponding left arm as the pikes and halberds were. So I am hopeful. :) I can't wait for the cavalry either. I sent@H...
I would say it depends entierly upon the game size. small, independent model proper skirmish games are best when fast and easy to learn, with thematic scenarios, but a grand tactical game is probab...
@Geoff Maybury Try linking the url or sending screenshots of it.
@William Redford As part of some DFG KS in 2015 (?) as far as I remember it. Plastic or Resin do not know... but since WGA is going to release them -and the feral ones, just wait and check t...
@JTam Indeed the Storm variant is my favourite model amongst the range.. and according to blogs and dedicated websites like dakkadakka, can be easily converted for SM, IG or whatever. Stil...
@William Redford Very IMPRESSIVE work Mister Redford... Always glad to see such devotion. I was planning to buy some conquistadors to depict Estalians during some Lustrian expedition and was...
@William Redford that's 100% the vibe I was going for with the Axe and dagger fellow.
Once upon a time, I should have replied: the best set of rules -read balanced. For instance, I played Fantasy Warlord instead WFB (just cause of Initiative rules) or Alternative Armies' Firefight i...
@JTam No worries. You found them larger? I think they match pretty well with the other empire units. Here is one next to a greatsword... and the unit I made. There are 20 in this unit... but I wou...
@William Redford No worries. Also, no promises. I didn't get many of those guys back in the day as I was poor and also turned off at how ginormous those guys were compared to all...
@Cole Lassell Hi Brother, glad you resurrected. Reference the missing Tiger: Shipped to Germany, or somewhere else in France for depot level repair or rebuild? Just a guess.
I have to agree with @Benjamin Hayward @Grumpy Gnome, so many games exist in so many sizes and genres and styles because they all appeal to at least some audience. Or in other wor...
My thoughts echo those of@Benjamin Hayward. What I like makes a good wargame for me but it may not be a good wargame for someone else. For example I favor the Toofatlardies games, so ...
Ive been dead for abit. but Ive seen lists like that and I cant trust them, the panzer lehr is rarely properly documented but the majority of this list does match what Ive seen. My issue is ...
