@Steven StGeorges Mantic's stuff is nice, my only issue with their models is somethings have lower quality than others, but overall they have relatively cheap stuff that fits the sci-fi settin...
@JTam Intriguing but conceivable.. just look at the world of Armaggedon and her equatorial jungle.. surrounded with industrial wastelands. Just need to recover old Jungle Fever articles fro...
@GreenScorpion Mantic's Hornets are clearly a lovely flyer, and less expensive than GW Stormraven and co. Deadzone is a range full of funky things and stuff. Looking at previous pictures, I...
It has been said a couple of times that my hobby space is so tidy. But is it really? I decided to clean up my desk, and "install" another shelf (another offcut I had from my wargaming board). Do ne...
@Benjamin Hayward thanks! In person he looks a bit more like he set off a dye pack robbing a bank but I'm going to go back try to nail that white saturation for keeps. @Yronimos Whateley there's s...
Thanks for your research on this! These would be fun to paint. Actually, that XL-07 looks oddly familiar... The color scheme's even really close to the Vic Viper. At 12 bucks, I might have to pi...
@Yronimos Whateley Actually the SW AT/ST was mostly used as a Warhound proxy back to the Old Days.. https://spikeybits.com/2015/05/star-wars-titans-40k-flashback.html Tony Cotrell wa...
Nice work! I'm cool with the sort of Victorian Sci-Fi thing that the Grognards and Bulldogs would generally fit right into., but I think I really prefer this sort of souped-up post-apocalyptic WWI...
Nice find - given a new coat of paint and a little weathering, these two don't look half bad for '70s style sci-fi in the vein of Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and the Buck Rogers TV series, whi...
I was watching some of the gameplay for the new starship trooper RTS, seems like they are drawing on all of the movies (not sure about the cartoon).
@Benjamin Hayward Indeed .. could be added to the upcoming Oh Rah DF team without any problem... I feel some "aliens" vibe could be easily added to that ship. 🧐
@Brian Van De Walker Warlord's Celt, Imperial Roman and Caesarian/Marian Roman sprues are their own creations, though you are on point with Immortal Miniatures being the creators of their Hoplite s...
Weapon wise, I'd be looking at four weapon hardpoints. Usually pods on each shoulder which could be missiles, nukes or mines, a large calibre weapon and a flamer (arm mounted) for close in work. Ma...
@Grumpy Gnome Probably the best thing that Fallout 4 brought to the series, I spent most of my playthroughs in the power armour but you always had the option to dismount when stealth was needed. E...
I agree with@Stephen Sutton. Put a jump pack and shoulder mounted weapon systems on that as well as a wrist flamethrower and I think I have my favorite image so far of Heinlein’s MI power arm...
@John Wilson I'm not sure that I would agree that it falls into the vehicle category. It is a single object that closes around the wearer, but I don't think that disqualifies it from the category o...
Fallout 4's version of power armour would be the same in that its essentially a vehicle operated by the trooper rather than an armoured suit.
The USD$12 for a single Marlburian cannon frame from Warlord is reasonable. Why the box set of three is $38.50 (or conversely, why the single frame is so cheap) I cannot fathom.
Right on, they look really great! Dig that sweet object-source lighting, really sells it!
No Grognards in sight! Going for a weird-war/post-apocalyptic vibe, low tech with a few jarring exceptions, so mostly Great War French with a few Death Fields bits and some choice GW parts. They'l...
@Mithril2098 They're a work in progress, I'm pretty sure. (or who knows, perhaps they'll be modelled that way and have a choice of different muzzles on the sprue?)
According to Amazon, it's 12.5" stem to stern: d here's a fellow's video review for it. His hands look average-sized, so it looks right about the size I'm after! https://youtu.be/Dr1QQHoe...
@Estoc This is true. There are two Armadillos, the one pictured is the large one and there's a smaller brown one. Next time I'm at the store (if they have it), I'll check it out. ...
Saw them during vacations -wife was taking pictures while I was lurking around toyshops.. Gonna order some thru' amazon.ca or maybe while paying a visit to the nearest walmart supercenter. W...
The difficult thing with kids is they vary in size a lot. It looks pretty big to me, but scale is hard to tell from the picture.
Given how much interest this thread has generated in a short amount of time, I think it's worth trying to get a consensus for a specification for this [potential] kit. Size/dimensions: There...
My brother and I have been looking at the spaceship toys for the new Buzz Lightyear movie for Sci-Fi gaming. He picked some up and took some scale-comparison shots; they look pretty good! Ma...
And it's time! For once, I am way early and with that; here is V0.14 of Magic and Tech. Unit cards have been updated as well as upgrade cards and new ones have even been added. Rules have been twea...
@Stephen Sutton https://www.deviantart.com/flyingdebris/art/Mech-suit-177173677 This guy was the designer. Its also pretty much an update of the Maschinen-Krieger design, so you could probably come...
@John Wilson I'm pretty sure the company no longer exists, and they only licensed the design, so someone else could probably make one if they paid whoever designed it.
@Stephen Sutton They did (probably), but no idea if they still hold the license.
Now this is how you do a heavy weapon! Probably an STL though.....
No email this week, apparently. So no teaser.
I believe Defiance Games had licensed that design before they went under, they didn't even have the decency to release the STL they had, to the people who already paid for the physical release. I'm...
Thanks for sharing this image... it is now one of my favorite visions for Heinlein’s Mobile Infantry. The only thing holding it back from being my very favorite is the bits in the book that I...
@Yronimos Whateley We are basically.... Neanderthals.
@JTam Dang, those are slick!
Had another playtest today and some changes will have to be made again. Mostly to unit stats but I think the mechanics are there; just need some ironing. Expect V0.14 by months end! I hope.
The story that was going around back then was that the guy who made the film (I'm never going to remember his name) was supposed to be adapting the Heinlein story, but read one page of it, decided ...
Nice find! If wood is your preferred terrain material, Mad Bob has some nice stuff with a similar concept. Anybody ready for some Mordheim!!!
Great heads up. Thanks! Shame about the French being already sold out.
"Back in my day, we had to Telnet and IRC uphill in the snow - both ways! - to get to our social media, and we LIKED it that way!" And the kids stayed off my lawn while we did it.... ...
That's great! I'd been saying for a while that the giant spiders ought to make great alien bugs, played straight with the sci-fi bits included in the kits, but I hadn't considered modifying the fi...
Hand grenades and horseshoes, when it comes to my resources and budget :) The 28mm figures I'm working with are about the same height as the 1/48 scale drivers, and some of the (nonimally 28mm) Re...
@lauregami Thank you for your kind comment. The paint I used for the metal was a citadel paint called Leadbelcher, then I did a balck was and some Runefang Steel for a little highlight. Hope that h...
@Yronimos Whateley This post is amazing, go back a while to when we were scale chating remember when I said to you 1/56th is our true scale, 1/64th, and 1/50th work for some cars and civilian lorri...
technically the live action film wasn't based on the book at all.. the film had originally been shot under the name "bug hunt" when one of the assistant directors brought up the heinlein book and c...
Thanks for that, Mithril! I might check one of those kits out! sounds like they're bigger than I thought. I remember seeing those Gundam kits all the time back in the early '80s, and I...
