Thought this may be of some interest to people here. Fireforge Games will be hafing a Feudal Japan kickstarter starting in May. Some Multi-part plastic minis. Also some resin.
I was well pleased with their Northmen minis and the kickstarter was good. The Dwarf Kickstarter was good too, but has not delivered yet. But more multi-part plastic is always good.
I am actually a little disappointed in them for going with the Sengoku era instead of the earlier Mongol invasions since they already have Mongols (just saying missed opportunity there and the fantasy junkies would likely not notice the difference beyond the lack of of guns). But Asian sets are always good and at least they have a lot of naginata.
@Andrew Turner (who I guess isnt on this forum) posted the below picture on the Wargames Atlantic Legion facebook group.. Stating he was considering using the WA Conquistadors as Portugeuese and having them verse some Japanese... I am kind of more interested in these Japanese now... So they can fight my incoming Conquistadors.
They just look so short and squat. It's not so bad on the ones covered in armor with helmets, but I'd consider most of these undesirable purchases. I felt pretty burned by the Mongols, and these guys are barely any better.
thanks for the heads up--I would love to have a samurai army but the excellent perry metals are too expensive and warlords old recasts of wargame factory samurai arent very good
@Caratacus I think the Samurai KS was supposed to start sooner but they delayed it stating they wanted to deliver the Dwarves first... I wonder what they will do if the dwarves now are delayed past may delivery...
I backed for the dwarves to... but ended up just staying at $1... I liked them but at the time WA started showing the Conquistadors which was more in line with what I wanted... Though I do plan on getting some Ram riders down the road.
@JTam The Current one is Cycle of Earth, The One I looked at was Gates of Jigoku. The Link for gates is above. I didnt back as 35mm is a bit too large to fit in with most of my collection. 35mm is kingdom death size.
Here is the link again if any one is interested. Its currently at $37,852 out of the $51,060 needed to fund. So if you are interested in evel just a box please come and back it.
I am in at the Daimyo level. Which gives you a choice of 8 boxes and all the unlocked freebies. Which are (if all are unlocked) 5 resin generals both on foot and mounted and 2 free sprues of models of your choice. The boxes I am thinking of getting are:
Jumping in a little late, but these do look nice. I will be doing a 16th C Samurai army in the fall but I will be using 2 Warlord starter armies for the bulk of the figs as well as Perry Miniatures metal. Definately want some of these too when they are available.
@BS Kitbasher both companies offer high quality miniatures. I have fielded a Byzantine army based entirely on Fireforge and am very pleased. Very durable, just like WA, but generally with far fewer poses, weapons and head options.
@Don Williams the Northman were pretty good as far as posing. Since the toro was separate and they had swords, one handed spears and 2 handed spears. I also did some halberd conversions using old GW state troop halberd heads with the 2 handed spear arms. I definitely enjoyed the northmen and am looking forward to the samurai.
Pledge manager opened for this. The shipping is just about double what was quoted (the 8 box level was quoted at 27 euro and I was charged 55 euro (after a 10 euro refund) . But Still excited for it. For those looking to late pledge. now is the time.
They have done Hideyoshi and Tokagawa but where is Oda Nobanaga to complete the big three, and the saying; Nobanaga gathered the ingredients, Hideyoshi baked the cake, and Tokagawa ate it.
I think that's how it went but its been a while since I studied Japanese history, which for those history lovers is really facinating. There are a couple of really powerful female samurai as well, and even a black samurai which would all make great character miniatures.
@William Redford That a bad "perhaps" then worse than maybe never I wish firms would be straight "Yes,or No" Bill your`e in to every thing I`m away for a few days and catch up is a bummer. Love you mate.
