@Geoff MayburyThey are very good SciFi sets, quite possibly the best looking ones out there and they work for a lot of stuff. They can be used for anything from fantasical weirdwar to bleeding edge...

A lot to be said for creating your own mix of your favorite IPs and using the game mechanics of your choice.
Has anyone her actually played One Hour War Games or it's spiritual successor One Hour Skirmisher Wargames? I saw them ementuoned in a "great games for beginner Wargamings" video and they seem intr...
In retrospect I should have added other and then stated "whatever Warring States China is in" in addtion to Imperial conquests, classic fantasy, and Iron Core (I think I may have also voted for WW1...
We're doing ugly, eh? How about the original aquatic accolyte, the Sea Monk?
@Steven StGeorges Good for him I guess😅, suppose thats better than character sheets getting lost (what happens with my DM).
I picked up this very nice volume recently: It covers German forces in the early war. One of the chapters is on the the Spanish Civil War. Here are some excerpts:
@JTam I take your mermaids and raise some deep ones 😉:
I would love if Catalyst did a few hard plastic Omnimechs. Their newer plastics are really nice, and they've done a few "premium" miniatures with other companies recently, but having a small single...
@Caratacus To my knowledge Warlord's Ancients and Dark Ages ranges where done by other companies one of which I am pretty sure is dead (Immortal Miniatures) and the other strictly does mold...
The 7TV rules seem almost perfect for this. The rules raison d'etre is to recreate the drama and action of fights from over the top, campy TV shows. A nice write up/review: ht...
@Axel Schudak Hmm, actually I think earliest gunpowder weapons in China in might be in Blood Oaths given the 904 CE/AD date at earliest, Ming would be the Renaissance range since WA already h...
I know I'm late to the discussion, but I've been away for a few weeks and this topic is awesome. I love the EisenKobra. That looks like the perfect kit bash for redshirts. Something simple and che...
@Hudson Adams You and the 8+ guys may hate me for this but actually, if I was limiting myself to multipart and looking only at fantasy kits for D&D I would just use something like the Frostgra...
I would probably buy such a kit.
Nice post! A lot of good information presented. Certainly an interesting conflict. Great link. That site with painting guide to various forces is really impressive. Are y...
@Blutze yes and no. I will use him in my Pathfinder game. 50mm is "large" or 4 squares on a grid. 60mm would be on the larger size of large and would not be out of place on those 4 sqaures (with j...
@Steven StGeorges I only recently got into the miniature but what got me into it was playing the old Dawn of War games. Kind of a shame my favourite units from that aren't even being produced (Kroo...
@Frank Reischmann ..and do not forget to take a look at Stargrave personnalities: the sniper, trooper veterans, the medic and so forth are really lovely models.
@SaucyNaut The Milky Way of Auld was a safer place to live and explore... There are a lot of players over the Blogosphere using a mix of RT and Stargrave to have funky games, some even conv...
@Steven StGeorges Yeaaaah. Not complaining too much. I think the more factions/races the better.I think they should have done that instead of making 1.2billion space marine chapters.
@SaucyNaut Supposed ... but you know them.. always eager to skip the fun leaving others cleaning their mess -and facing the wrath of Kha.. err.. the Necrons 😁
@Blutze I was inclined to buy the Goblin Honour Banner shown above as an addition to my Oldhammer Ork Raiders Boss Retinue since Snots are now OOP and almost impossible to find out around -...
@Steven StGeorges Weren't the Eldar supposed to be fitting that role already? (The role of arch-nemesis for Necrons) Haha
@Hudson Adams Right, you said blister. I was in a sprue headspace, and my local store doesn't carry any of those. Character progression is certainly an option if the kit has multiple bodies. Could...
In what system are you even gonna play these? Shouldn't that dictate the base size?
@Steven StGeorges These, as well as most of Reaper's goblins, seem to be in the heroic D&D/Warhammer goblin ballpark. Really they are only small if you keep in mind that this is technically a L...
No idea when I will get around to painting it though! Perhaps when our Blood and Plunder Raise the Black Kickstarter pledge arrives...
The business world is full of risks.
Grumpy my friend we never got into bed with the beast whoes name you don`t speek. A lot of other trader friends of ours did, and were well FUBAR`ed by them. Lovely tricks like, have these out of da...
I`ve found a modelrailway company called Grangers, that print all scales, so 1/56 th is listed, along with cool train, radiators, engines, trolly lights, jacks, welding equipment, generators, ...
@Mark Dewis For sure, the Milky Way is now quite a place not to visit.. excepted for the 'Nids, but they are only passing by, aren't they? 😁 But with the coming of the Votanns, what's about...
I've been hoping for a Spanish Civil War set for a while. My hope is that WA, with it's unique tastes and skills to produce plastic set options that are often overlooked, would pick up the gauntlet...
Awesome. I forgot you also had a giant gray ship.
@Yronimos Whateley Not to mention Cobra villain "Shovel!" That store is selling it's printed minis for about $4.28 each. Not too bad considering they all look like "characters." ----...
Oh, lots of great finds for that one - the vehicles are excellent, and this picture alone has some great character minis - at a glance there are some trackers/scouts, medics, a heavy weapons guy: ...
Thank you! I agree - the more realistic proportions help a lot, I think. The same goes for the Cannon Fodder bodies: the proportions on those are pretty natural compared to many o...
@Yronimos Whateley How small? As "Snotlings" ? I was looking around to find out some alternative to such a now OOP part of the former GW Orc & Goblin "race".
@JTam Since you asked so nicely... here are the photos of the gaming room Mrs. GG and I are fortunate enough to have, thanks in part to the lack of vacations during the Pandemic....
@Karol Siadul I honestly hope WA doesn't go down that route. It's annoying enough to see Warlord so obsessed with Bolt Action that it neglects their (far more interesting in my view) Ancients and D...
This Mother's Day get her what she really wants: A hobby area for you.
@Geoff Maybury I have a couple of the Mars Attacks mutant insects. Cool sculpts but not the same quality of production as GW nor the same aesthetic. The Mantic material is soft, resulting in d...
@Grumpy Gnome @Yronimos Whateley Sure it would be nice if Hollywood demonstrated/taught responsible weapons handling. But Pedowood personnel can't even be bothered with learning how to...
In regards to the percentage of the RKKA that were women, it's worth remembering that they weren't subject to conscription as men were. Volunteers all, and that may have translated to an above aver...
Actually that store has a grip of cool sh*t that would be useful for your project: And probably more importantly he has everything you need to build the All Cat Girl Imperial Guard...
I'm not a fan of metal parts at the top of a miniature. Likely to be top heavy. Adding a plastic banner to a metal figure is more practical.
@Steven StGeorges Isn't the arch-enemy of the Necrons... just everyone? On the Grimdark, not much my thing. That's why I usually play Orks ;) The only true heroes of 40K. Which says it all, really.
