Thought I should show my slow progess as a way of encouraging myself to get more done. I'm building an army of Persians and Persianised Halflings. I'm waiting on some bases, but now now, a cannon!

Bought a box of the goblins, super excited. however I have some questions before I Willy nilly start chopping stuff off sprues. 1) one of the shields has a hole where the boss should be, and no h...

Sam Bellamy was kind enough to post some great comparison shots here: https://wargamesatlantic.com/community/xenforum/topic/48739/light-vehicles-possibilities I think the comparison favors the 1/...
@Grumpy Gnome I use 1/48 or 1/50th diecast. (The difference between 1/48 and 1/50th is minimal). Imagine the miniatures in the photo you posted more upright in a natural walking pose....
Oh yes, some pistols would be nice. Would also love some crossbows but those could easily be supplied from the conquistador kit.
This "Dust" 1/48th scale model is a light walker. I cut the turret down put correct size hatches, Machine gun, storage rack, jerry cans and main gun. No good for dust but I got my own 1/56th ...
Hi mate, Being ex trade I got this question asked ao many times. My reply was Si/fi any scale, and make it look right, with correct scale assessories Jerry cans. machine guns. etc. But if its real....
As someone who plans to use them for fantasy, "taller" and "beefier" are always good so they don;t look too out of proportion next to fantasy minis.
That Sprue could work as basic for other Sets with Expansions sprues.
How about generic chariot sprues, which get completed by diffferent Crews and works for most late Bronze Age factions? -Skeleton type chariot for Canaanites, Hurrians and Mitanni -Wooden ty...
I am struggling a bit on deciding which scale to reference for my WW2 28mm gaming. The “heroic scale” of Warlord Games (which I prefer artistically for gaming) compared to the “t...
Scale really matters to me. Not so much as what is truly accurate as what is artistically pleasing to my eye. My painting and terrain building is as big a part of the hobby to me as the actual gami...
@Yronimos Whateley Could you provide a bit more context as to where these native horses were or time period? It comes a bit out of the blue for me. I am not very familiar with Irish horses ...
Early war inspiration: "Fortress of War" aka "Brest Fortress." A solid war film. Features the good old Russian shovel attack as all good Russian war films should. Spoiler: This is based on ...
I vote for Roman legionaries from the late republic under Julius Caesar, Pompey, Mark Antony, etc. Warlord Games are the only maker of plastic figures for this eta, and are of low quality.
@Yronimos Whateley Yes.
@Brian Van De Walker in the 1st Boer War (1880-81), the British were still wearing the Zulu War era red coats, blue trousers and white pith helmets. See image below of the Battle of Majuba Hill, wh...
@Sam Bellamy Awesome pics/comparisons. Thanks Brother. I think the 1/48 tank is the better match to reality. I've been fortunate enough to examine a T-34 first hand. It's a s...
I've only been casually scanning the info I've run into, and thought maybe I was remembering bits wrong, but I do recall one of the sources I looked at referring to claims by natives that the horse...
The interesting thing to me is that the height is almost identical, but the footprint on the table is definitely different, while the hatches on the smaller version of the T-34 look entirely too sm...
@JTam I agree that 1:48 often fits better. I only have pics of T-34:s to compare betweed scales. But this is what they look like.
@Yronimos Whateley @Yronimos Whateley Regarding mounted knights and trained infantry. The knight arose from the ritter, which was German cavalrymen that were the response agains...
@JTam as many have mentioned Perry makes zouaves for ACW.I do however think that it would be a really nice set for WGA to make if they made it French zouaves with optional weapons, since I belive ...
TL: DR – Nothing really changed in my eyes… So I read the scientific article and haven't read any of the news articles on the subject. The paper studied 1964 horses from the Late Roma...
I vote but my category never comes up! ECW! So much stuff to do on this topic.
@JTam Perry miniatures
@Corwen Broch rubicon has just released they stuff but what? More stuff from more companies - that's good for wargamers.
@JTam am.... but what's about "modern skirmish war games"? Such as based on Force on Force rules? Or "Team Yankee" from Battlefront? And lot more companies which make modern stuff from resin ...
@Doshu Tokeshi Great information! Thank You. I've educated myself on the RKKA, but the Soviet Navy is outside my wheelhouse. The Russian Army sapogi were rubber soled.&nb...
@JTam I forgot about the striped undershirt the telniashka it was said if they stripped down to this shirt, they were fighting to the death!
I am still hopeful for some pistol arms... Since my use will likely be fantasy, being able to make Outriders from this set would be very helpful.
@JTam the Soviet Navy is unique in wearing both blue and black on their uniforms. Their trousers and Peacoat (Bushlat) was black while their winter woolen jumper was blue. Summer cotton one was wh...
7. Soldiers in body armor. The Soviets made the widest use of body armor for ground combat of all the major powers. It's use seemed most common with sappers (combat engineers)...
I voted for SYW. Prussians, Austrians (Germans and Hungarians), French and British. Do a poll for which two opponents to do first and if it's British and French, possibly FIW. But, if Vietna...
@JTam Perry Miniatures do
Tried to vote, but it said I had already voted. Which I had not. Wouldvote for the War of Spanish Succesion.
@Yronimos Whateley I do like some of the 'hound' designs for armoured cars...Staghound, Wolfhound & Boarhound.
I'm definitely looking forward to unarmoured late Romans. These with some of the armoured ones would be a fantastic start to an army!
Pin this thread? @Hudson Adams Is there a way for a mod to pin this thread or for it to be moved it its own section? It seems to be getting lost in the chatter.
Chicken and the egg dilemma when it comes to representation in various mediums, including tabletop wargaming.
If WGA does dable in (more?) cross-genre vintage tankettes, these seem like winners to me - most have a sort of "diesel-punk" sci-fi aesthetic that might blnd well with Death Fields in general, whi...
I would love a set that complements the existing Victrix standing Macedonian phalangites by showing them in action. A set of poses that allows for the front ranks of a sarissa phalanx in combat. Pr...
@david phillips >do china with the earliest forms of gunpowder weapons That would still be medieval, probably the Song, around a thousand years after the Fall of Alexander. Not that I am...
Looking forward to the spashdown - and a major mixup with the existing biz :-)
Detachable armour is good, for I am not sure how widespread the use of metal barding was in the Americas, when it was practially restricted to the elite of the Gensdarmes in Europe. Three heads lo...
@Axel Schudak "French or Italian style heads": What would those look like? What differentiates them?
@Will Mansell Yes, Warlord Games makes Landsknechts. I was in on that campaign with 200 bucks for the plastic set when it was still Pro Gloria on Indiegogo. That campaign alas failed, and t...
Will get used in Kings of War (unit based fantasy games which included a variety of human style armies, )
